Used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Consumer Reviews
Truck was fine, transmission is crap
Bought it new in 2016, over the course of 157k miles it ate two transmissions. Neither of which would Chevrolet consider to be a manufacturer issue, so I paid out of pocket. Mileage was not very good, around 18 most of the time (and this is a two wheel drive). Power is reduced significantly from higher trim models with the same engine. Cost of ownership went way up having to buy transmissions. CarPlay would not boot up reliably. Maybe 10-15% of the time, it wouldn’t boot up at all. I would have to turn off the truck and wait 5 minutes before restarting to get it to load. Sounds petty, but I count on having hands free access for phone calls. Overall, Chevy can suck it. I won’t be buying anything from them new ever again.
I did my research
Getting a new/used truck was a big deal and big purchase for me being recently retired. I read everything on all the full-size pickups. The JD Powers 5 star rating for reliability meant a lot to me in making my decision for the Silverado . I have family and friends that love their Fords but have issues with them after 5 years or so. I like the Ram and owned one before ( rode like a buckboard) but couldn’t get around the actual gas mileage, lack of comfort and finish level. Toyota’s high cost and gas mileage just got it a “nope” . I’ve owned my Silverado for 4 months now and really love it. I purchased it online at a dealership out of state sight unseen , as I was specific on regular cab shortbed ( last years sold in America) Priced locally it was 5k more and local dealership hustle/ drama pissed me off. it was 3 years and 7 months old when purchased, with a year and a half left on factory powertrain warranty. The dealership included a lifetime powertrain warranty for free. It had 40,000 1 owner miles on it and I carfaxed it for care and history, the truck was flawless with new tires. I paid $15,995 + shipping. Plan on keeping it forever.

Great truck
I bought this truck used with only 32K miles. It runs great but I am not a fan of the all-terrain Goodyear tires. I realize they came with the Z71 package, but I will probably buy standard replacement tires in another year or so. The tires are louder, a slightly rougher ride and lowers fuel economy. I will probably be thankful for them the few occasions I go off the asphalt, but most of my miles are highway. I love the Chevy design inside and out for this year. This is a solid and dependable truck as have been my two past Chevys...Suburbans. I have only had the truck 2 months, but so far no problems.

What happened to my Car Play!
so, I picked up my new Silverado 1500 and noticed while going through the truck that Airplay was missing. I asked the salesmen why didn't my truck on this since it was on of my requested features (also standard on my trim level). I was told that someone had ordered the truck without it and I would be able to bring it in the next day for an update. The next day I called to get an update. I was told that "due to supply issues my truck did not come with CarPlay that that GM "may" make it right some day. For now, I received a $200 credit.. $200? I wanted carplay.. I don't really care about the stupid credit.. GM.. Make it right please!
