2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4dr Extended Cab LS 4WD SB (4.8L 8cyl 4A)

Review

They just keep getting better and
better. Rides like a car, power like a
pickup.

Best Features

Power, Ride

Worst Features

Interior - door fit, console isn't really helpful to hold anything in place - everthing rattles around in there.

Review

No problems. I do mostly city driving
and get about the same gas mileage with
the the big v8 as I did with the small
v6. I switched from the regular cab to
extended to get more space, and got the
v8 because the v6 just didn't feel
right. I've only had 2 issues with the
truck. 1. It's too long. It doesn't
fit in my garage. 2. It doesn't turn
sharp enough, but Chevy sells an option
to fix that problem.

Best Features

I love having gauges rather than idiot lights. It's no race car, but the big v8 is worth its weight. 2002 was the last year before it was redesigned. It's a much nicer looking truck than 2003.

Worst Features

The cup holder in the middle of the front seat is in the way. The older style drink holder where the 12v outlets are worked better. There needs to be more internal storage. Skip the Good Year tires. They make any rain seem like ice. The front seats don't fully recline.

Review

All of the obvious plastic on the
inside of the truck make the interior
look cheap. You can hear plastic bits
rubbing together when you roll down
the road, especially coming from the
extend cab area.

The declo CD/tape deck that came with
this LT trimmed truck are pure junk.
The only upside were the big easy to
read buttons.

The only better looking truck is on
the road is the GMC Denali.

The four wheel steering option must be
nice. The turning radious on the
extended cab is pretty wide

Gas mileage is good in the 4.8 liter,
and the ride is comfortable. Overall,
this is a great truck.

Best Features

* Sharp looking truck. * 4.8 liter gets good milage compared to other similar trucks. * Smooth ride compared to other trucks. * Nice looking wheels.

Worst Features

* AC Declo Stereo is not worth its weight in sand. * Plastic interior looks cheap. * Bed rails are flimsy. They should be more sturdy or come standard with rail caps. * Suicide doors are inconvenient in parking lots.

Review

My truck is just ok. Nothing
spectacular. However, the most serious
problem with this vehicle is that there
is an air-conditioner solid tube that
is routed directly over the
distributer, cap and rotor. Every six
to ten months, the continuous water
dripping onto the distributer corrodes
the internal electronics and the
vehicle is subject to unexpected
stalling without the possibility of
restarting. This vehicle is very
dangerous, yet Chevrolet refuses to
admit this design flaw to date. I have
a lemon law case file in progress and
notifying local news sources in an
effort to save other people from this
neglegence.
