If you are going to drive a truck . . .
Have owned the Sierra for 8 months now and I really enjoy driving this truck. I get pretty much 20-21 MPG regardless of city or highway driving. On long stretches of country driving (45-50 MPH, no stopping) actually get about 26 MPG. Just don't drive that way much. Inside is big and comfortable. My kids like it and so does my wife. Black on black looks awesome. It is fun to drive. Pretty good in city traffic, awesome on the highway. The truck is finished nicely (not like a luxury car), but very comfortable.
7 years runs great
Used for long trips (>600 miles each) and daily work commutes (25 mile). Very comfortable ride even for car-sick prone child. Ave 21 mpg. I wired up a rear camera since visibility is difficult with a larger truck. Easy to clean bed after hauling mulch, etc. Only problem was rear speaker died! (DIY attempt in progress).

OK so far
I searched for consumer reviews of this vehicle but they are few and far between, so...here is mine. So far (1300 miles) the truck has been just about perfect. Overall fuel economy, which includes towing a small boat, is 18.6. Biggest thing to get used to is the "Uh-oh" feeling at stoplights when you think the motor has stalled. There are some small stutters switching back and forth between electric and gas propulsion, but nothing too noticeable. Comfort is great, cornering is quite good, all controls are user friendly. Acceleration is great. One small problem, common among Silverados, I hear, is that the tire monitoring system was flashing a warning due to some computer glitch--fixed.
Best truck/mpg combo out there
Took a road trip in the truck up to Novar, ON- 500 miles round trip. MPG roughly at 20. Since then, city driving mpg is at 21. Awesome truck. Great investment. Superb comfort and build quality. GM has a winner in the hybrid truck market.
Fantastic Truck
For years I've needed hauling capability for my 6,000 lb. boat, home improvement store purchases, and the family. My previous hauler ('05 Suburban) did the job, but got only 10.5 mpg. Enter the Silverado 1500 Hybrid. I've only had it for two weeks, so I can't make any long term evaluation. However, it is a fantastic truck that does it all, while getting 20 mpg both around town and on the highway. It pulls my boat with ease (even in electric mode), and is a comfortable family vehicle. It is easy to forget that there is a truck back there behind the second row of seats. The hybrid function is incredible, and does exactly what it should, getting great mileage without sacrificing power.
