2002 Chevrolet S-10 2dr Regular Cab LS 2WD SB (2.2L 4cyl 4A)

Review

This truck has the Xtreme package along
with the 4.3 V-6 and 5spd. tranny.
Truck has all the goodies too: A/C,
tilt/cruise, PW/PL AM-FM/CD player.
Standard cab doesn't have much room for
anything other than the two
passengers. Handles extremely well due
to factory installed lowered
suspension. Engine is better than
average but not a speed demon. Shifts
smooth, brakes well, ride is good
despite the sport suspension.
Fit/finish is very good and cab
exhibits no rattles at just 12000 miles
(bought used as a repo!) If you want to
carry stuff inside, you'll need the
extended cab version.

Best Features

V6, 5spd. manual, electric and heated mirrors

Worst Features

The successor to the S-10 is already out (the Colorado) so nothing can be said here...

Review

Great all-around truck! Best suspension pkg on
compact truck market. Takes eveything that I give
& asks for more. Great for beach fishing and ski
trips plus occasional abuse. No minor mechanical
issues. Nice inter. style & accessories.

Best Features

ZR2 pkg. = FUN!!! V6 is great in low end range. Exterior styling still holds true to older trucks. Did I say the ZR2 pkg is fun???

Worst Features

Bigger gas tank please; 15mpg doesn't get you very far. Also known for thermonuclear heat; no happy medium. Intergrated mud flaps; 31 in tires kick up lots of rocks

Review

Some simple modifications can make
these a really great buy

Best Features

Good power with out costing a fortune in gas or insurance like some sport cars, rear wheel drive is still the best

Worst Features

Get rid of the third door, squeaks

Review

Gutless no-tech motor. 17mpg @ 70mph.
Overly restrictive air intake.
PLASTIC intake manifold.
PLASTIC clutch master-cylinder.
PLASTIC power-steering fluid reservoir.
PLASTIC radiator end-tanks.
PLASTIC headlight covers. PLASTIC front
grill with water soluble coloring.
PLASTIC EVERYTHING in passenger
compartment. Windows that refuse to seat
properly in the fully-raised position.
One broken window regulator (so far).
All 4 shocks leaking.
Torn rubber exhaust system hangers.
Throttle jams in wide-open position.
Corrosive DEXKOOL "coolant". ABS system
must be disabled to get any kind of
reliable braking. Hyper-sensitive
seatbelt retractors.

Best Features

Couldn't care less about it getting stolen, burnt to the ground, or totaled in any other way.

Worst Features

Paint color should be a bright lemon- yellow, with the words "Like A Crock" just below the "CHEVROLET" lettering on the tailgate. And "POS-10" at the front lower corner of each door would go a long way towards truth-in-advertising.

Review

We have gotten about 17.0 mpg in
general driving and 22.0 on a trip. It
appears to lack power on hills. My
wife calls it a girls truck. It's her
truck.
