Our Malibu has been extremely reliable. No mechanical defects. One minor interior trim issue fixed under warranty. Truly a great mid-size car at a great price. We have the 2.4 liter 4 cyl. Not as responsive as the 6cyl but, a little better mileage and the deal we got was great.

brakes+ rotors that fail after 40000,turn signals that failed mysteriously but only worked at the dealership coolant that goes down continually but never leaks(head gasket gm?)alternator failed after 2 YEARS?!! (come on!!)rattles from who knows where or why and the ac(check the switch, its defective!!!)why such a vehicle is foisted on people who shell out hard earned money is beyond me...imports are looking better and better every day...a horse and buggy are more reliable

I love this car to death, the only things I wish they would change are similar to most peoples complaints. I wish they would hide the change compartment, I had my window broken out for 1 dollar. The only other thing I would like to see fixed is the brake lights....my right brake light burns out within 20 minutes of replacing it. I've put 10 bulbs in there, and have attempted to trace the problem back to the source, and am not finding anything. Everything else has been good with this car. Very reliable, and very nice. I've only had 1 breakdown, and that was the alternator at 60000 miles, not too bad in my opinion

Bought this car with 5k on it. Had problems with starting. Had to take to dealer 3 times. Replaced breaks at 20k rotors and pads. At 40k Transmition started shifting really hard. Engine light keeps comming on. I have done my best to take care of this car. I though maybe I was the only one having problems untill I found this web site. Used to be a GM guy Now I switched to Ford. Traded in the Chevy and got a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. Hope this will be a better car. I will never buy GM agian.
