Its driveable
I bought mine used so it had problems to begin with. the seat electrical tilt was broken at 99k. In between 99k and 140k I replaced the thermostat, thermostat sensor, water pump, transmission cooler line and the radiator. At about 110k the traction control started malfunctioning, and now i have to turn it off every time before i start driving. the resistor for the AC/Heater fan switch malfunctions so every now and again the fan doesn't blow. I have to mess with the actual plug under the glove box to get it to work. The line that connects the back window defroster came undone so that doesn't work. I gave it 3 stars because i really want to like this car. without all the little but expensive problems this would actually be a great car. I really like the engine and the pick up speed.

bad trans
car is very unresponsive when you take off, hesitates to move. I thought it was just the trans but even the electronics such as fan controls are sluggish. took it in, they say its ok . if all impalas are like this & it keeps getting good reviews what does it say about buyer revues. The car would be car of the year if it wasn't for the 6 speed trans & heating controls, who ever passed that should be fired

2012 Chevy Impala LT
This car is a great long distance traveling car; just don't go up in the mountains. The car doesn't handle very well but thats were you get the smooth ride from. One thing Chevrolet definantly needs to work on is the transmission. The transmission takes a good second-second and a half to shift to the correct gear when your stepping on it. Once again, do not take this car in the mountains when theres only a two way road and you need to pass someone. You have to get used to it that the transmission will lag so you have to step on it a bit earlier. But once it gets into gear, it does pull pretty good. The car seems to be overpriced when compared to the Charger which is a better car.

When I bought my 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, it had only 15,000kms on it. The vehicle was very low maintenance., gave me a smooth ride., handled nicely & I had no trouble parking the vehicle (due to its size). Just before 2018 I noticed rusting. It first started over the rear wheels, then progressed very rapidly along the driver's door., which cause a huge piece of the door to come off. I had the car checked over by a guy who specializes in detailing & he advised me not to spend the money fixing up the rust.. It would cost too much & the rust would only return. When doing some research it was stated that GM didn't drill holes in the bottom of the doors to enable water to escape, & they failed to use a sealant. No wonder cars were rusting. I bought a newer vehicle in 2020 which meant I only got 8yrs out of my Impala. Whenever I see a person with a 2012 Impala I advise them of what they could be facing. I take my 2018 Malibu to a very well known rust protection company to help ensure that the possibility of rusting is deterred. Frankly I did love my 2012 Impala; but where my 2018 Chevrolet Malibu is concerned, I like it, but don't love it.
