Utilitarian, highly recommended

2 months with a new 2011. It is practical, functional, a screaming good value with rebates, pleasant looking, but a bit boring to drive. For the price I paid, I could hardy buy a small import sedan with the same trim level. If you want the maximum passenger and cargo space you can get in any sedan around 20K, then the Impala LT is your car. With room like this, you wont need an SUV. On the rare occasion you actually *do* need to transport sheets of plywood, pop the rear seats down and load up. The other 364 days of the year you'll enjoy cheaper payments and 10 or more extra MPG. It does most things great, a few things good, and nothing poorly. Best large sedan value, period.

2nd Impala (had a 2007) and it is very good, improved brake rotors, lots of standard stuff (ABS, Traction Control, a great utility car since it has power for the Mountains ( 4's are a pain in CO). Ride is quiet, sound is OK, price was terrific.

I drive a lot 35,000 miles a year, bought car with 10,000 miles, has been trouble free with minor repairs, and good maintenance checks. If you need a cruiser, with lots of comfortable driving, and easy on the wallet, this car is for you. I've been impressed with how easy this car drives on highway, really just sort of drives itself. Certainly not a sports car, buy I don't like to fight my car on long drives. I have over 235,000 miles on my car, guessing I'll end up around 300,000 in a couple of years. Still looks great, drives exactly the same, and expect more minor repairs and maintenance. I had transmission fluid changed once for maintenance, need another soon, that is it for now. Brakes are good, but car really lets loose going down hill, so they can wear on really steep mountain roads. Overall, great, I'm looking to get another, maybe a 2013, last year of this model.

My Third LTZ Since '06

G.M. Continues to build great vehicles. I traded my 08 LTZ for a 10 LTZ. I really like the built in blue-tooth on the 10. New temp controls are better. I'm a road warrior so I know what a car should be to be comfortable. Go with the LTZ model! You will enjoy this car. Its very solid. Take your new impala to a good tire shop or back to the dealer to check the alignment. This was second one I've owned that was shipped from the factory out of alignment. Your factory tires won't last long if you don't get it checked out.

Test drove it 2 plus years ago loved it then and as it sits in my driveway now I still love it. I purchased a '10 Impala LT only 1 yr old with 15,000 miles. It now has well over 43,000 and the only thing it's needed was a battery and the air recirculation valve for emissions. (both replaced under war) It rides great, for an American V6 the mpg is not bad at all I get 25 plus on the highway and right around 19 in town. interior is comfy any problems are my fault. only issue I'm having right now is the pass front window motor is slow. with proper maintenance and driving less like and idiot and more like a responsible driver and these cars should last a very long time.

Car engine is strong feels brand new. Only problem I have is the transmission went out at 146k miles. I now put 200k miles since then and transmission is starting to slip again. I paid $1,375.00 for rebuild. Looks like I'm going to have to dish out another 1375 soon 😑

I have had this car since the fall of 2014 and although it is not flashy by any stretch of the imagination, it has been one of the most practical and reliable vehicles I've ever owned. The passenger cabin is roomy and comfortable and it has a cavernous trunk with fold-down rear seats that allow one to carry all manner of larger items. The best part is that in the five years I've owned the car, I never had any major repairs--not one. I will say that handling was greatly improved when I put a set of Michelin Premier tires on it. The original Goodyears were squirrelly at speeds over 70mph. Sadly, my Impala was recently rear-ended and totaled, so I have reluctantly had to move on. The car protected us well. No one was hurt. The insurance company called it a total loss, even though the car was still drivable. It was a well built car and it did its job.

We chose this 2011 Impala over the new designed Taurus. Yes, that is right! Why? Taurus - sit low, can NOT see out back window due to rear seat headrests (similar in Impala), too many buttons and too much electronic gizmo stuff. We liked the simple, easy to use instruments, console. Very comfortable for long trips (drove from IL to FL, AR, MO, KY, TN, more in first month owned). Now have 15,000 miles and has not missed a tick. We purchased new the base model...it had more features than our previous car, and not need to pay more for things you don't use. Paid $19,500 before tax...NEW. Excellent value for the money.

I use this car as my company car. My last one was a 2007 Impala and had 100K before turning it on my 2010.I already have 25K on this one and had not had any problems . The 2010 model eliminates most of the Impala badging on the outside of the car making it a little more appealing. If you are looking for a large size sedan for basic transportation and no frills this may be the car for you.

I purchased my car in July 2011. Six months after I had to get evaporated canister repaired. June 2013 car stopped in traffic, it wouldn't accelerate. Had it towed to dealer they said transmission needed to be repaired. GM covered the cost of repair. April 2014, car stopped again in traffic. I had it towed back to dealer. They said transmission problem again. This time warranty was expired. I called GM and they assisted with half the cost. November 2015 car stopped in traffic again. I had car towed to dealer. Transmission again and this time they say it needs to be replaced. As of right now I'm battling with dealer and GM.

Great car. Convenience package with blue tooth a must have. Ride, handling, fit and finish far superior to my 2003 Impala. Only two minor complaints. My car has the bench seat. The storage compartment in the center arm rest is too far back on the seat and it hinges at the back not on the right side like my 2003, this makes it difficult to reach items in the compartment. The outside rearview mirrors are too small. This car is my third Impala and I am more than pleased with my purchase.

This car is a beautiful car. It looks nice, runs great and rides very nicely. However, I’ve had starting issues with it and I’ve gone through 8 batteries since it was new. After getting stranded many times and spending a lot of money trying to diagnose the no start issue, the mechanics and I came to the conclusion that the OnStar module has always been bad and it is what has caused the no start issues and drained the battery continuously. Pulled the fuse for the OnStar out of vehicle and now everything works great.

I bought this used in 2010, with roughly 20000 miles on it. So far I have been very happy with the car. I did 80000 miles; only one minor issue with the gas pedal at 60000, but nothing else; I drove through snowstorms, rain, etc and I felt very comfortable in this Impala. Highly recommend it! Giving what I paid for it, I consider it the best car I have ever owned.

2011 Impala LTZ

Traded in a 2007 Impala SS with 80,000+ miles. The current deal on the Impalas are incredible. MSRP for loaded LTZ was $31,655. GM rebate of $5,000 and $1,000 AARP rebate along with dealer discount of $1,655 gave me a new car for $24,000. They gave me $8,500 for my trade in, and the deal was set. Did buy the Major Guard GM Extended Warranty online so that the complete car is covered for five years / 100,000 miles with zero deductible. In comparison, the LTZ is more balanced and quieter than the SS. But I do miss that V8 rumble! Power is slightly down. They did however, delete the six disc cd player from the Bose option and your stuck with a single cd player.

This is my second Impala. I have been very impressed with both vehicles. Routine maintenance is all I have ever had to do with both vehicles. Never had any mechanical problems with either. My current Impala is a 2010. I have retired since purchasing this car and my mileage is a little over 80,000 miles. I hesitate trading in because I am still so pleased with the look and ride of this car.

I traded my Impala for an Acura. I was in a position to go a little luxe, so I did, but I almost cried over my Impala. It was so reliable and dependable! I loved driving it. It seemed very comfortable to me. I put 139,000 miles on it. I know I could have gotten 200,000 miles out of it easily, but I was ready for like I said, a little more luxury and more technology. Also, the Impala's front wheel drive worked for most situations, but now that I live on a private road that has some hills, I wanted an all wheel or four wheel drive. So, I hope this Acura will be just as good or better than my beloved Impala.

I bought my 2011 Impala used in the beginning of 2012. I got the LTZ which has all the features you could want in a car. It drives great, gas mileage is good, its comfortable for long trips. While the Camaro is still my dream car I feel that the Impala is more practical and comfortable. Back seat has a lot of space for passengers as well. Great trunk space too!

Yes, Detroit, I let you talk me into buying a 2011 Impala LT. What I got was a smooth, powerful, ultra-quiet, very comfortable sedan that pulls 30.5 MPG highway. I wish I had listened to Edmunds and Consumer Reports. That way, I could have spent thousands more for a smaller, less comfortable, less attractive car. Instead, I am stuck with a beautiful American car. With the Bose and luxury package, it's like sitting on my nice leather sofa at home listening to a quality stereo. Who needs that, when I could have been folded into an Azera or Camry and listening to the engine buzz. Got a LOADED car for $19,400 after all incentives and rebates.

I am a 30 year GM Tech. Bought this pile of junk for my wife 2 years ago and now has 12K on it. We had a death in the family up north and drove the Impala 1100 miles up. Absolutely the loudest road noise I have heard from a New Car ever! Forget the trunk bowtie ornament falling off, the On-Star/XM Antenna flying off the car on the highway, one of the tire pressure sensors went out, and last week the AirBag light came on setting multiple codes. Ask me why GM doesn't want to hear from me!?!?! My wife and I have had it with the car, tried to trade it in for a quieter car and no GM Dealers want to give me more than half what we paid for it on trade. Even with only 12K on it! Calling GM again!!!

Overall Splendid Car - 2 design flaws

The 2010 Impala LTZ is overall a wonderfully designed vehicle, inside and out. Operation of the car is very intuitive and sensible. The LTZ has good lower lumbar support (unlike the LT); however, the head-rest is TOO FAR FORWARD creating neck pain, especially on long drives (it is a mystery as to why the headrests on cars are being pushed forward to unnatural and difficult positions). The car is responsive and powerful; however seems to have less responsiveness and pickup than the LT (another mystery), despite a theoretically more powerful engine, dual exhaust, etc. Onstar is SPLENDID indeed! Sunroof inside shade does not open up the full way (to enable full exposure of the sky-window).

I bought this car used from the dealer not even 2 years ago, long story short it is already dead because I cannot afford to replace the engine. I got this car with 130,000 miles on it and had to replace the transmission within a few months, even though from day one of having it I realized something was wrong. (side note people didn't believe me because I'm a female) Aside from the transmission I have had brakes replaced, the battery, water pump, radiator, steering rack, belts, the thermostat. This car has been such a money pit for me and I would never recommend it to anyone, not even my worst enemy. I have kept up on regular car maintenance and yet my car is still dead. ( I've gotten transmission flushes, oil changes, etc) There was also a recall on airbags for my car but I never received a letter to bring it in to be fixed. In short, I'm pretty sure I will never buy a Chevy -used or new- because having this car was such a bad experience. Tomorrow I'm looking into buying a used Mercury or Ford and from those reviews, that already seems like a better choice even with them buying older than my 2010 Chevy.

I bought one of the rare fleet editions for $4.4K from a sketchy guy on Craiglist (title&VIN check were clean tho); Former ComEd automated meter reading car: 99K miles, two busted mirrors, warped rotors, and leaky power steering. Joke was on Mr. Sketchy, though! Only $95 later I've put in fresh front rotors, new mail-order mirrors, and the bottle of 'stop-leak' from Walmart worked. Now the car is worth $6K+, but I'm keeping it because it's a joy to drive, has an exceptionally well- designed frame and suspension, is super simple to repair because everything important is staring you in the face, and it has a cavernous trunk that holds all my tools with plenty of room left for groceries/lawnmower/whatever.

The inlinement is expensive adding $100 to the cost because of design. The transmition died last week (warenty) but still.... 43k miles... really? The gass millage sucks too.

First, this car (the loaded LT/LTZ models) is meant to be competitive with cars ranging in the high 20/low 30 thousand area such as the V6 Accord. I have ridden in or driven dozens and dozens of these cars in said band and up, such as new C-Class and E-Class Mercedes, 3 and 5 Series BMW, and so forth. With that said, after getting two brands new loaded LTs (one for me and one for my wife) each financed at less than $20,000, this car screams value, for the reasons I state below, and I think from the person who stumbles in the dealership but gets all the great incentives, to the person who knows exactly what he is buying (like me, having had dozens of new cars in my life), this car is solid.

Got "engine operating at reduced power" message and "serive stbilitrac" and "no traction control" then after 15 minutes, the car shut off. No lights, NO power brakes, no power steering. Ended up replacing the throttle body, which has an electronic sensor in it. This sensor is 3" from 800 degree farenhieght exhaust manifold so the heat may make the sensor go bad. Second time now in less than 2 years, will be an repeating problem. car has ZERO resale value. When front seats are fully pushed back, NO ONE can use the rear seats.

Have a 2001 base impala with 180K miles, I call it the Beast, best car I ever had cept for the leaky aluminum rims. Looking to replace I considered the LTZ, but I drive slow and don't need the power, do need gas mileage and can't afford to replace the 18" $200 tires every 2-3 years. So I got a 1 year old (rental) LT with the luxury package (spoiler, sunroof, heated leather, power passenger seat, Bose) with 24K miles, silver, 17" rims (can buy 740AB Michelins or Goodyears) with better MPG on the 3.5L. Very good looking car, very quiet and smooth. I'm short and I like how high up the power seats go. I call this one the Beauty.

Trans failed at 72k, right after warranty ran out, in spite of having transmission service performed as specified in maintenance schedule. $2000 to fix. Got used at 25k, has always used 1qt oil/1500miles. Trans shop said trans failure is common in Impala. Low roofline makes it hard to get in and out. Cramped interior. Big trunk, but nearly impossible to reach stuff in front half because of small trunk opening. Feels like being in a compact car rather than a full sized. Would not buy again.

Well there were lots of Impala LTZ’s made. I have friends with 300,000 miles of thers. Only maintenance is tires and oil changes so far on mine. The bad news, they don’t hold there value and they ride poorly, I mean stiff ? The good news you can pickup a bargain. A 2008 just sold for 3 K and it was almost perfect, even the tires with only 90K on the odometer..my car was purchased in 2011

The car still looks great at 118,000, no major repairs till the tranny went at 112,000 miles, paid $3600 for rebuilt tranny. We had to pay what the car is worth to keep it on the road. I guess taking really good car of the car did not keep the car from dying from a dead tranny on a busy street. We plan to buy a reliable SUV when the Impala dies in a couple of years

Better than the "pros" reviews let on

I've been a Chevy man most of my life. Never had a bad one and the 1994 Caprice Classic I traded in for this 2010 Impala 3.5L LT 1LT had 190,000 miles on it. It never gave me or my teenage son a bit of trouble, other than the usual parts starting to wear out. Son now driving my 2003 Malibu V6 with 117,000. It's called maintenance folks. My new Impala is super comfortable and the 3.5L V6 is a lot quicker than those "pros" let on (and I grew up on V8's). Ride is smooth and handling is quite good. Quiet inside. I commute 70 miles a day on some tough roads and so far the Impala appears "good to go". Mileage is 27 mpg so far. Visibility is good and the brakes appear to be well done.

We bought this car to replace my wife's 11 year old Regal. She has been very impressed with the car even with On Star. The car is very comfortable. The gas mileage is better than expected. The dealer was outstanding.

I like how the car drives with the soft suspension, it absorbs bumps very well. All models come with an 8 way power driver seat with lumbar. I am tall and I have plenty of head/leg room. Mine has the floor shifter and it isn't marked, when shifting you have to look at the dash, very cheap. I like the interior layout of the radio, climate controls, and dashboard. Very straight forward and easy to use/read. On the downside the interior is full of cheap plastic/ fake wood. The car has a huge trunk, it nice going shopping knowing you have room. The back seat is small for a large car. I didn't have the car long enough to comment about reliability.

You'll be getting rotors every 6 months. Definitely not designed for a hilly state. This big cars has 190 horsepower. That's a joke. Transmission went out at 45k but it was under warranty. That's my selling point. It's in excellent condition with a new transmission. This car is for senior citizens.

Impala is the best kept secret in General Motors. Practically nothing is spent in advertising for this car yet it continues to be a best seller. In a time when cars seem to be shrinking and full size cars are turned into European style "sport sedans" Impala still offers a level of comfort and style not available elsewhere. New GM cars like the Buick Lacrosse, though a fine vehicle, has an interior that seems inspired by jet fighter cockpits. A tall driver has no place to put his right knee. The CTS, another fine vehicle, when equipped with a sun roof does not offer enough head room. Impala still has plenty of room for a full-sized person while still offering style and performance.

In general the car was very good until about115000 miles. It took 3 different shops including the dealer to figure out that internal fuel pump was causing me to lose power at a moments notice. So far the car runs well but The Chevy product in the past was more reliable .

Got a great deal off msrp new. Quiet, comfortable and really good Bose system. Only have had one problem, transmission, which was less than a grand to have rebuilt (not happy about it, but zero other problems and MUCH less in repairs compared to my cousins Toyota’s or VW). Does have a little rust now from Michigan roads. Overall, will not be replacing anytime soon and still runs and drives like new.

Great car, esp. for the price. LTZ version worth the extra expense. Car looks like more expensive Lexus, etc.. OnStar very useful, but could use a map screen. OnStar saved us when we were locked out of car. Car is unfairly and negatively reviewed by Consumer Reports, perhaps on basis of cheaper LS or LT versions.

Chevy Impala 2010 - NEARLY Perfect Car!

Chevy Impala LTZ is the most well & logically designed car on Earth! The controls are intuitive in location & functionality. OnStar is truly astounding, giving voice navigation and on the dash-display! The CAR has its own Phone Number! Back seats fold out to form a splendid compartment for groceries, etc. Ingenious & creative. drives beautifully, as all Impalas do, with excellent handling and pickup. The remote engine starting feature is Way Cool! Seats have good lumbar support and comfort, though they could be a BIT softer and more comfy, which would make them totally perfect. The only Design Flaw is that the Sun Roof cover pushes open about 2 inches short of the glass opening. Why is that?!

Making payments on a car I can't drive..I have payments to make for another two years and sooo I'm not at all happy...Will never buy a Chevy again.

After driving several sedans and I do mean several I had said I'm not driving and Impala. I decided to drive one to humor my husband. The dealer incentives were great. I drove the Impala and fell in love with it. The leather heated front seats are wonderful and comfortable. I drive the car several miles daily and have never felt uncomfortale. I average 29 MPG and somtimes 30 The car handles like a dream. The V-6 gives me the power I need. The sound of the Bose speakers are perfect. The technology in the car is simple to use and easily understood. Friends that have rode in the backseat have positive comments about comfort. The ability to see out the back is problematic. Edmonds got this wrong

I will never buy another Chevy again! Recently had the transmission replaced in our Impala which is ridiculous! The servicemen at the transmission shop were shocked that a transmission only three years old had to be replaced. And to think I bought the car figuring it would be a good value boy was I wrong! Should have heeded the warning from the 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo SS that I owned prior to this car it also needed multiple major repairs. No more American cars for me I'm going foreign from now on...

I HATE the center rear headrest...anyone know how I can get rid of it? I'm afraid it will cause an accident because of the blocked vision. I agree with the others--cupholders in bad place, outside mirrors too small. I have the luxury package on the LT...the seats are hard and uncomfortable.
