Vehicle2007 Chevrolet Impala LS 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 4A)
ReviewBought the car with 4k miles in 2008. Rear tires gone at 11000 miles. Had no heat at idle. Dealer replaced 1st set of head gaskets at 14000. Got 2nd set at 46000. Ran hot at 55000 miles on the interstate. Intake gasket leaking. Transmission has a hesitation when cold. Then bangs into gear and sometimes chirps the tires. Transmission slips after extended idle. 2 dealerships can't find problem. Many minor problems with interior and exterior. I was a GM technician for many years and have always had a Chevy in the driveway. This is the last one. Impalas are NOT American made. Made in Canada.
Best FeaturesGas mileage 30mpg on the highway. Interior room
Worst FeaturesQuality, quality, quality. Stand behind the product. GM should take quality and engineering lessons from Toyota.

I have the 3.9 and have had 0 problems. Trans fluid should be replaced often for best results (30k miles). Delay it at your peril. The GM recommendation is bogus, and would only be good for a trans replacement interval. Original tires are crap - I bought Uniroyal tiger paws (Michelin makes them) on the web and they are superb - excellent rain and roadholding performance. Sounds like you need to surface the head. GM will never change - they have the same annoying customer service as before the bankruptcy. I think they would save money by just fixing problems in the most efficient way rather than fighting the customer as they do, then overspending when the repair is done.Report it

As many of us know, the worst cars are made in America.....Report it
