Keep up the good work GM

I recently bought a 3LT Impala and am already convinced it is the best vehicle I've ever owned. GM put a lot of time and effort into refining the exterior and interior with over 1,000 new parts compared to the previous generation. The 3.9 engine has lots of power, makes good mileage, and the transmission shifts smoothly. The car has an air of luxury about it, but without the price.

I dont know why people are having problems with their Impalas. My Impala works well inside and out. I think it comes down to TLC and regular maintenance. It's a great car for the highways, and a great car for economy for its size. I have 85000 kms on it now.

Not Reliable

Fun car to drive, but not very reliable. At 46,000 miles the water pump went out, at 71,000 miles the tranmission started leaking, at 110,000 the power steering pump went out. I have ongoing problems with the tire pressure monitors. The remote fob doesn't work unless you are within approximately 5 feet of the car, which makes the remote start virtually worthless. I also own a 2002 Impala LS with 250,000+ miles on it, that I have had no problems with; so at least I have something reliable to drive I will never again purchase a GM automobile due to these issues, I will be purchasing a Toyota Camry soon.

Nice for the Price

As an owner, I am pleased at the handling this car has to offer. If I were to go on what this site said the car had to offer, I wouldn't have purchased this car. I am well pleased with the countless features that are available at this base level. My wife and I enjoy XM satellite, anti lock brakes, rear spoiler, OnStar, nice aluminum wheels, power seat, remote start, not to mention the interior room. The car has enough zip with the V6, that I would not have considered a V8 for the price difference. This car is driven about 80 miles a day and is quite comfortable. As for negatives, I would like to have seen larger mirrors for better visibility and, the styling is boring, not like the old ones

I am very impressed with this new 2006 Impala. The ride is great and very quiet compared to the previous generation. I am happy with fuel economy also. This car beats the gas mileage of my previous car, a 2004 Kia optima V-6
