WOW
All I can say is 360K with no troubles. Engine/ trans /brakes/ electrical all exceptionally reliable. I am religious about maintenance and clean fluids which I believe has paid off. Drives great and very comfortable with seat mounted arm rests and cruise. I would consider no other after the service this vehicle has given me. This vehicle is a 2500, 4.8, 480el, semi floating 8 bolt axle, extended wheel base. It is worked everyday hauling hardwood flooring.
A good van.
For a van it handled well and was very comfortable to drive. Overall excellent reliability. A few glitches in the side door hinges and with a couple of the interior lights. Fuel economy varied dramatically by driving habits. Ranged from 12 to 22 mpg city to highway. Drivetrain reliability was excellent, with minimal expenses for maintenance or repairs in about 50K miles.

Express Van Workhorses
I own two express vans that is use for my business, A 99, (170k miles) and 2005, (143k miles) 3500 ext vans. I have owned Ford vans prior to the Chevys. Ford makes a good van but my Express vans have more headroom, (no need for a sprinter van) and are more comfortable and durable. I load a lot of weight on my vans and they handle it without a problem. I think they are quality built. I have not had any problems with minor things breaking. But, then again, I do not abuse my vehicles. I work them hard, but I also maintain them. I would just like to say that I am very satisfied with my Chevy Express vans.
Just What I Needed
I finally found a great deal on a cargo van. I was looking to get back into construction, but needed something for tools and equipment. I have been driving it only for a short while, but it even handles well in the snow. I like the space it provides. I have ordered a set of shelves to put into the back.
Never
The van only has 31,500 miles and i already had to take it to the shop 3 times for repair. I don't think Ill ever get a Chevy again. I also have a Chevy S10 that I had to take to the shop 5 times and it only has 34,800 miles on it. All the repairs are on the electricals.
Good New Van
Bought diesel 2500 extended work van. Have 4k now. Build quality is great. Seating is good. Controls well placed. Dash ugly. Have '04 Ford van and Chevy drives way better. Ford constantly wanders Chevy drives straight. 62k on Ford with no repairs, hope Chevy does as well. Disappointed with Diesel MPG. Get 16MPG combined, but it is new and it is winter. Ford gets 12MPG with gas. Diesel VERY smooth and quiet. Big improvements in Diesels lately. Do not notice towing 14'box trailer with diesel. Has right porportions for extended, unlike Ford. So far so good.
Their paint peels off!
Avoid this vehicle unless you want to spend thousands repainting it. I own several express vans up to 2013 in my plumbing company. All but one are losing their paint on the hood and doors. Resale is poor on them all years since 2007 from what i am aware, unless you are lucky to have one that the paint is not peeling. Gm is aware of the problem and will not do anything about it! Update 10-09-17 Where is the class action lawsuit??? or Deceptive trade practices lawsuit against GM for knowingly selling these defective vans since 2007. I have now had to repaint a 2008 and a 2010 chevy express van.

Purchase at your own risk
Where to start? So many issues. It seems Chevy never asked themselves how could they improve this van over previous models. Rather asked themselves how cheaply could we produce this van. The simple answer was that quality could be cut everywhere. Front wheel hubs went under warranty. Unfortunately Chevy doesn’t cover the tires. Transmission went just out of warranty. ($4,000.00)Not covered. Weather stripping, door locks, floor mat, suspension, mirrors,I could go on and on. Nothing in this van is as good as previous models.

Mike's cargo van
I own a 2005, but the 08' is identical. I own a carpet cleaning business and the van has 1 ton+ of equipment mounted inside. It has had perfect reliability. The Ford is a very old design. The Sprinter was weird, expensive, and underpowered. It also wouldn't fit in my garage. I cheaped out & didn't get PW/PM/PL. Get the power accessories as walking around to unlock the doors is a pain! I think for the money this is by far the best cargo van. One gripe: GM seems to tune their gen-2 small-block V8's for power rather than low-rpm torque. I have the 4.8 w/3.73 axle. With all the weight I'm hauling it's barely enough. You may have to special order it, but get the 4.10 axle if you have the 4.8
2008 Express AWD Experiences
As of 11/28/11, my van has 90,000 miles. I average about 17 mpg on a trip. Sadly, Chevy quality is STILL POOR after decades. Fuel injection pump: failed; cost $525. Air conditioner compressor: noisy. Chintzy plastic door handles: one broke; parts cost $300. Tire pressure monitoring valves leak: cost $50 each; I replaced with standard valve and can't shut off the dash warning thus can't read odometer. Sliding cargo door handle mechanism is failing. Performance is only so-so pulling a lightweight Aliner camper: shifts often on hills. Seats aren't really comfortable.
My new company truck
Just got this truck for my job. This is 2009 work van. I am not happy with this van, Chevy should go back to the drawing board, or go in to the field and see what trades men want and need. The steering wheel seem small the sitting position is terrible. The upgraded stereo is not worse it and the speaker sound cheap, and there's 1 big plastic knob in the middle the dash has some compartments but why on the passenger side. The windshield is so small if your tall like me forget it. Your looking just under the sun visor. The windshield wiper sound real loud when on. The gas gauge should be on top not the battery gauge. Make sure you get tilt wheel this van doesn't. The steering is hard for a van with power steering.
Sheet metal on van
I have a 2013 Chevy van express and I am disappointed at how thin the sheet metal on the van is. I already have a small split on the side near the wheel well that needs to be repaired. I have only had the van for about 45 days. I bought it brand new.
P.OS.
I later learned some of these vehicles have a fuel leakage problem and when exposed to atmosphere can ignite with any fuel source!!!. So low and behold I bought one back in January from a private owner and in less than 90 days one night I woke up to a fire in my drive way-it was my van. I immediately notified General Motors and they scheduled the van to be investigated which was about a 60 day process from fire to inspection which they flew a guy out from Atlanta to Minnesota where I live. He could not determine what caused fire and when I told them about the fuel leakage they dismissed it saying the vehicles vin number did not match suspected matches-well wouldn't you think there's more out there?!!! Which is why I wrote this review to STAY CLEAR from 2011Chevy 1500 Express.

Just what the business need
Everytime I set foot in the drivers seat I thank all involved with me purchasing such a dependable vehicle. As a carpet cleaner with truckmounted equipment, I need something heavy duty as this van. Carrying about an extra 3 thousand pounds from equipment and water the express van does not skip a beat even riding up a steep hill. That's power!!
Good work van, but not much else
I use this van for hauling, and it does a great job of that because of the huge cargo area. It has decent excelleration for it's size and weight and a fairly comfortable ride. I have had no mechanical problems as of yet and for the most part I like driving it. The only real downside for me is the low grade interior parts. Everything is made of cheap plastic and the exterior metal feels alot thinner and more flexable than the old 1988 Chevy van I drove previously. All in all, I feel it's a good work van for the price.
Decent Work Van
I bought this van primarily to transport my disabled mother around on weekends. (I had a wheelchair lift unit installed on the side door). It was an attractive choice for me because it's secondary purspose is that it can used as our family's pickup truck. At 10,000 miles I have experienced zero defects. I have found the van to be comfortable and powerful. I loan this thing out to friends and family a lot and get many compliments about how nice it drives. As far as appearance and interior quality, It's a cargo van. I don't expect a luxurious interior and head turning looks. I use this thing to move stuff.
New 2006 Express
An excellent work truck. Rides rough when empty. Mileage is higher than expected with careful driving.
Enclosed truck with space!
I love this van! I put solar on without drilling holes in the van. I average 17mph on the hwy 15 city. Tons of power with 6.0l engine. Change the oil often. The mileage when towing was 12 to 14. When the wind was 20+ mph headwind it dropped to 11 mph. The one thing I hate are the armrests. The armrests are in the wrong spot and not adjustable. My wife hates the banana seats REALLY they suck a tall back with adjustable headrest would be fine. The HVAC system works well but the vents seem to have a chemical smell since new. It is getting less but my wife gets sick. I'm working getting rid of the smell. Love my van hate the dealer where I bought it. If I had to do it all over again I would buy this van in a heartbeat. Since Chevrolet skyrocketed the prices of ALL their cars and trucks, I wouldn't be able to afford this van now.

LEMON
Bought used 2018 Chevy Express 2500 in august 2019. It has been one thing after another. Replaced Evap Cannister, replaced Cooler Thermal valve then Rebuilt Transmission. It is hard to start in mornings and it stutters. Turns out Chevy used v8 transmission on V6 engines. No one can fix it including Dealer. Don't buy this van!
Great work van
Diesel gets 20 mpg or 16 mpg with 8-10,000 trailer and when in a hurry I've done 80 with a full load and pulls like it's not even there. It still drives like a cargo van. High center of gravity effects cornering. Can ride rough without a load.
How many Van's can one man claim ?
I've been using these vans for 30+ years. We toss in a Ford, a Sprinter and even a Nissan now and then but we always come back to these work horses. There's always room for improvement, but hey! It's a cargo van.

Customer had one - now I want one too!
Our company wrapped this van for one of our customers and we were so impressed with the features and cargo space, that we are in the market for one now too. Love the clean lines of the exterior and how comfortable the interior is. Leanne - Owner [HTML removed]

Chevy vans-why they stink
Plastic, plastic, plastic. Cheap build quality. Fair ride. Horrible mileage. Body parts flimsy and poorly constructed. Lacking in any get up and go. I can't belive it's the only game in town! I am so sorry I might be stuck with this vehicle. The styling is so bad I can't belive someone was actually paid to design this van. It's that bad! Ugly. I am so disappointed in this van. What a sucker I was to get it.
Great Cargo Van
This vehicle, 2017 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van, has been fantastic. I sure hope that General Motors continues with this body style.

2005 Chevy Express 3500 Ext 6.0L
I replaced a 1993 Ford E250 with this van. The low employee pricing swayed me away from Ford. It was a better value at the time, however, I was soon disapponted by the large turning circle due to the extended wheelbase frame compared to Ford's EXT model. Chevy's wheelbase and 1 foot extra length makes it hard to parallel park.
Natural Gas Version has very short range
I recently received the all-Natural Gas Express van. It starts and runs well on Natural Gas. What bothers me is the incredibly short range. I ran it until 5 miles after the "low fuel light" came on, and got 140 miles on a tank. A tank holds less than the equivalent of 12 gallons of gas, and it gets 12 mpg. Since our van runs 120 miles a day, that means we drain it every day. With only a couple places it can filled, it was a pain. We added a machine to fill if off the gas line at 1 gallon an hour, so now every morning we start with a full tank, and it's working out fine

Awesome work utility vehicle
This truck has great gas mileage, and handles very easily for such a large vehicle. We've only had Chevy Expresses in our fleet for the past 13 years, and they last a long time with minimal maintenance costs.

Crystal clean!
Great van and powertrain!
most amazing service vehicle
If my house was a Chevy, it would never need painting, never need maintenance, and it would heat and cool itself without energy.

Mostly OK 5 year update 6.0 Ltr mtr
Bought this truck in late 2017, Express Cutaway 3500 with a Plumbers Body from Knapheid. Test drove the truck, seemed to be fine. After driving it about 75 miles, a heat shield came loose and was rattling under the truck. Took it in to service department, they said it was fixed, and to come pick it up. I picked it up, still rattling, went into service managers office to tell him that somebody is not fixing what they say they are. He and I climbed under the truck together in the service drive and I could grab the shield with a glove on and make it sound like there were pots and pans flying around under there. he sent the truck out to a welding shop and had it fixed by a third party that day. I picked it up the next day, problem solved. Too bad Chevy tech could not complete that obvious problem on the 1st attempt. 5 year update: The truck has continued to run fine. It has had oil changes every 5K miles. Tranny drain and fill at 25k intervals. Odometer at @59k miles now. Exterior window sill on passenger door constantly working loose, that is the only trim issue. Of course the typical white paint failure with pealing on the hood has a few spots beginning. I hear of brake pad rapid wear issues on these trucks, my truck still has original pads front and rear. The similar truck my crew drives goes thru pads more often bcz of their driving fast and stopping faster. The knapheid body has chips in the paint everywhere, the thinnest paint possible by Knapheid. Electric locks continue to fail, got many replaced during the warranty but now Knapheid wants over $300 per lock. They are not designed to take the compartment doors closing with force required to overcome the spring on the hinges. There is no technology except the DIC system. Back up camera in the rear view mirror is too small to guide the truck onto a trailer hitch. This truck is substantially more reliable than the Ford Transit 2500 high roof it replaced.
