Solid truck

1990 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Series K1500 Silverado 2dr Regular Cab 4WD SB

Transmissions was replaced about 125,000
miles and the truck currently has about
220,000 miles. The first 170,000 miles
were mostly highway, but the truck did
serve some heavy duty from pulling large
heavily loaded tandem trailers to
recovering stuck farm tractors, etc.
Except for the transmission
replacement, the drivetrain is still in
excellent condition. A recent
compression check indicated all
cylinders are well within limitations.
Changing the oil every 3,000 miles and
fixing the little things as needed,
really makes a difference in the long run.

Best Features

Dependable and still a good looking truck. Good handling truck on the road and willing to pull it's own weight, and then some, when on/off road.

Worst Features

The transmission is weak compared to the overall rugedness of this truck. If I need to replace it again, I will upgrade to the heavy duty trans from a 3/4 ton. A wiring harness adapter is available for this upgrade.
