Camaro Cousin SUV
I chuckle while I write this, because it's a little deja-vu-ish. April, 2017 I was looking at mid-size SUVs. I didn't like any of the in-stock vehicles (Mercedes to Kia) enough to pay the asking prices, which most of the dealers were stuck on. So, I somehow ended up with a Camaro SS! That car turned out to be the sweetest daily driver I have ever owned (including the Infiniti coupe I had just come from). Now here we are at 2020. I was looking at SUVs again, as my Camaro had shown me that with all of the SUVs and pickups (especially raised ones), trying to find a time and place to enjoy the Camaro was becoming very challenging. (Race tracks are a little too 'advanced' for my area.) So, tired of being frequently irritated, I decided, "If I can't beat them, join them." Long story short, I "ended up" at the SAME Chevy dealer where I had gotten the Camaro! They had a gob of Blazers that had been sitting on the lot awhile. After driving both a V6 and Turbo 4 Blazer, I was grinning from ear-to-ear, while the fact that the Blazer has basically an improved Camaro interior made me have an instant affinity. So, here's my actual review of the vehicle. I got a V6 RS FWD Blazer with many of the add-ons (I've GOT to have a sunroof and ventilated seats!) including the 21" wheels (meh). This thang is QUICK, even in "touring mode"! But it LUVS that fuel. Even though this 3.0L engine has the auto-off feature, and cylinder deactivation so that it can run as a V4, I am getting slightly WORSE gas mileage than the 6.2L V8 in the Camaro!! I do 90% city driving, which sees me averaging around 14mpg (and 13mph) overall. Fortunately, the rest of the vehicle makes the eyebrow-raising mileage easier to accept. It's VERY comfortable to drive, even with these bigass wheels, and even on our chock-a-block "roads" here. The handling is smile-inducing, and in "sport" mode, the control, feedback, balance, and the (finally!) smooth/decisive 9-spd AT mesh together to almost make me forget I'm in a Chevy SUV. The cargo area is big, and the overall layout and little details make it very usable. The rear seat is going to surprise some folks - lots of legroom, headroom, and sliding/tilting seats mean you can transport everyone without bumped heads and elbowed ribs. And the driver/passenger space is JUST like a Camaro's - with a couple of upgrades, and one goof. Now, the heating/ventilation on the seats retains the last setting, or will automatically adjust the seat temp along with the blower A/C settings. Also, there is an electric lockable (thru the valet setting) glove box. And they added a switch to turn off the engine's auto-off feature. Yes, there are some cons as well. If you get one of the higher trim levels, or order the drivers' assistance packages, there is a learning curve to know how to smoothly operate this vehicle. It seems Chevy has gone the cheap route and mounted the audio 'subwoofers' in the doors (even with the TotL 8-speaker Bose setup). This is great IF you luv a squeaking plastic accompaniment to the bass in your music! Another cost-cutting savings are the cheap, hard plastic surfaces throughout the passenger compartment. IMHO, I think a popular option would be for GM to offer a dash/door padding package. I would order it! I've had to forget about laying my forearm along the window openings. The rest of the plastic surfaces have proven to be dust magnets. One last penny-pinch - the passenger front window does NOT have Express Up. Other than that, the only thumbs-down comes from the placement of the electric parking brake control button. (I'll even take a foot brake over electric!) In the Camaro, the button was right near the tranny shifter. In the Blazer, the button is wayyyy over by the driver's door on the LOWER dash!! Since I can't see the button when I'm ready to go, I still sometimes have to look around for it. Here's my recommendations - FWIW. If you want the Turbo 4, get the 3LT. If you want the V6, get the RS. Those 2 trims will give you most of the goodies that make this an easy, fun vehicle to drive around all the time. I would highly recommend getting whatever trim level is needed to get the 360° HD cameras (unless you live somewhere that has sensibly-sized road lanes and parking spots.) I also recommend getting the "Cargo Management System" (GM dealer add-on) option. It's a clever device that has banished almost all of my complaints about open cargo areas. I turned OFF the "Safety Alert Seat" very quickly! This is a questionable "feature" that vibrates the driver's seat bottom cushion INSTEAD of beeping when ANY of the drivers' assistance warnings go off. The side of the seat that is vibrating is supposed to indicate the direction the 'danger' is coming from. However, my butt hasn't learned directions yet. And, even though I don't need them, I was surprised to find that rain-sensing wipers and a heads-up display (luv'em!) are NOT available at all, and wireless phone charging is only on the Premiere trim.

Best of the Lot
We took the time to investigate a number of vehicles in the mid-sized SUV category and bought a new Chevrolet Blazer. First is the fact that the doors are large enough to get in and out of with ease. I am an amputee and 6ft tall. Oddly, the worst in this category is the Toyota Highlander. The doors are far too small. Next, is a quiet interior going down the road. (The Highlander was terrible in this category.) We love the 3.6 L V-6 as it has loads of power for merging onto the freeway and passing. Of course you pay for all this power in lower MPG numbers, however, we are still managing to see 24.5 MPG overall. We don't drive all that much and appreciate the power this engine provides. We got the 2LT model and my wife loves having the HOMELINK garage door opener feature along with all the other nice features in this trim level. The ride is very smooth over rough surfaces we have encountered. This vehicle came nicely equipped and we really are impressed with all the features this SUV has.

Blazer RS, Camaro Inspired SUV
Love the styling, performance and overall driving experience! The RS package makes for a look that is both aggressive and beautiful at the same time. The interior has the same dash and seat trim as it’s RS cousin. Very happy with the Blazer and would highly recommend it!

Upgraded from the Equinox
I have been driving the Equinox model for over 10 years. I have had 3 different models and this year bought the Blazer with the 12% discount sale. I got the 2LT model with the turbo 2.0. I have been getting 29 mpg on the highway in Eco mode. Rides much nicer than the Equinox. Engine is stronger. Seat is wider for my larger rear end. Layout is better with USB in front and not buried inside the console holes. I also like that this 2.0 turbo does NOT require Premium gas. This brings back the SLIDING middle seat which I loved in earlier Equinox models but not the newer ones. So far so good.

Blazer Premier
Excellent driving dynamics and handling. Interior plastics could be improved in certain areas. Infotainment works very well and is intuitive. All in all very good ownership experience.
2020 Chevrolet Blazer
I purchased a 2020 Chevrolet Blazer fo replace my wife’s 2018 Nissan Kicks! The Nissan was not very responsive! She was not impressed with the lack of power from the Nissan! My wife took one drive in the new Chevrolet Blazer with a 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder and she was amazed with the response and power this engine had! There are no blind spots and it handles very well! The cargo area is large and roomy! If you’re looking for a fun to drive SUV. look no further than the Chevrolet Blazer!

Beautiful Car but made cheap!
One would thought spending 45,000 on a 2020 Blazer RS it would be made better, one month after driving it noticed the air vents around the dash was peeling, took it to the car lot and they replaced the part of the dash, now being 8 months old the front part of the grill is peeling off, I have an appt Mon to get it inspected to get it fixed by the dealership, but apparently they have to get approval so Chevy will be reliable. I love this suv but it’s getting to be a overpriced pain

Power to spare with V-6
We got the new Blazer with 2LT trim and the V-6 engine. My wife loves this vehicle. It has loads of power to spare with decent gas mileage. We now have 5,000 miles on it with nary and issue to complain about. We got it with the Cajun Red paint job ( I always wanted a candy apple red car and this fill the bill for another $400). The ride is excellent with very little road noise. The sound isolation of this vehicle was the best of all the vehicles we test drove. We bought this 2020 model in June of 2020 and the dealer really bent over backwards to sell us this car. GM did a great job of build quality on this vehicle.

Mixed feelings
Love the looks and the size of my Blazer. Which the more basic packages offered the preset setting for the drivers seat. It was a large cost added for the preset seating setting that included a bunch of features i did not care about. Did notice i get the flutter affect of air when i go over 50 mph with the windows opens (doesn't go away when you open additional windows). Last, it is hard to see the lift gate light in the daylight. The back up camera and temp controls are awesome. Thank god they put a button is to eliminate the auto engine shut down.

I like this vehicle
We've had our 2020 Blazer Premier AWD for five weeks now and we keep finding new things to like about it. As far as tech and safety features, it has every thing we could want, with the exception of one thing; rain sensing wipers. We had researched, looked at, test driven, and even negotiated price on a couple of the many midsized SUVa in this market segment. The ones we liked enough to negotiate on, we just couldn't come to terms with the dealer on trade-in and/or price. I knew that Chevy had revived the Blazer name, but pictures I saw in the car magazines showed the RS model. I'm 70 years old and couldn't see myself in such a sporty vehicle (I'm long past my midlife crisis). Once we saw a Premier, however, we were hooked on the looks of th Blazer. Our test drive showed it to be tight, solid, quite and very peppy vehicle (with the V6). The one downfall was that the front seat bottoms were too short and did not provide adequate thigh support. This was a deal-breaker. My wife was very enamored of the Blazer, and she wanted to see if she could make the seat work if she put a skinny pillow under her thighs. We walked into a Chevy dealer's showroom and there Sat a black-on-black Premier that to us, was just beautiful. So, armed with her pillow, she climbed into the driver's seat, and guess what, the pillow wasn't needed. The seat was perfect. I can only assume that Chevy had become aware of the problem. Not only had the Blazer Our agreed upon first choice, the dealer and manufacture incentives available brought the price down to a very acceptable point. I would recommend the Blazer to anyone looking for a stylish, powerful and great handling SUV which, for the time being, can be had for a reasonable price.

Great car... but had to trade in!
That's right - I ended up trading it in. A little painful - it was 2020 2LT Gray V6 (not on option when choosing the trim on Edmunds), with Redline Edition accents. I got a lot of compliments around town, it was sexy. I'm only 5'6, wife is 5'4, with one 6 year old, and we had plenty of space inside. More than you can tell from the outside. The car drove smooth, and the V6 punched from red lights and zoomed past slow-pokes on the highway. It was a fun car to drive. The 20inch wheels did enhance bumps, and cabin could get a little noisy. The visibility was so-so, although not a huge deal (my previous vehicle was a Tacoma, and I had no issues with visibility there). The larger front end probably played a role in that. I’ll also say that after being in the car for awhile, the seats became a little uncomfortable to sit in for me. But my issue was the ton of cheap plastics on the inside. It's put together nicely, but Chevy needs to put better materials in (cost savings probably)... Not sure if it was a huge issue for other commenters, but mine rattled a lot, especially on the highway. After taking it into Chevy numerous times to get the dash and A pillars adjusted and checked for loose parts, nothing got fixed. Nothing! It was sort of embarrassing to drive something that nice on the outside that sounded like an aged Kia from the inside. Further, my CPO limited warranty expired, so if I wanted to have them gut the inside and rebuild, it was on my dime. I admittedly should have done a better job with making sure my warranty was solid, but I didn’t expect a 9k miles vehicle to give to many issues with quality. But I also came across some people with the same ‘cheap plastics’ complaint on different reviews and forums… so there’s that. Luckily for me, due to Covid, the value went up quite a bit on used cars after my purchase a year prior, so I actually gained a little bit of equity (crazy times huh?)... and I traded it in for a brand new Honda Passport. Not quite as fast, but a smooth, powerful, and quiet ride. Way nicer materials on the inside, it just feels more solid and better built in the interior. And the seats feel very comfortable. Great people space, even better cargo space. I’m having a 2nd child soon, so the extra space is appreciated. Furthermore, QUALITY is important and it feels like Honda put in more thought into this vehicle. When you're spending $30-$40 THOUSAND on a vehicle, it should feel like it was worth the "investment" (yes, I know vehicles are far from an investment). I still miss the Blazer, but like the crazy, gorgeous ex-girlfriend with temperamental issues, sometimes it's better to get something more reliable that you'd be proud to bring home to mom, even if it’s just a little boring. LOL.

Don't bother with the low end models.
The wimpy 1500 lb towing capacity means that the transmission might give up and quit soon after the warranty period is up. The top models feature a 4500 lb towing capacity which means better cooling apparatus on the transmission so it should last much longer. By contrast the entry level Nissan Pathfinder can tow 6000 lbs with it's CVT transmission. It's not just about pulling boats or campers. It's about investing in a vehicle that could last for 500k miles and get handed down to your kids. But make sure you always take any Nissan only to the dealer for transmission service. CVT transmissions require special fluid and many shops end up adding regular transmission fluid resulting in premature failure after a few days of driving. If you mainly lease your vehicles for shorter periods of time and are getting into the Chevy Blazer mostly for it's drop dead GORGEOUS looks, then the life of it's tranny might be of lower concern. However if you do opt for the entry level model with long term ownership in mind, beyond 100k miles: consider your extended warranty options. Transmission replacements cost thousands.
Blazer AWD Premier is a great ride
This car drives great, and all the safety equipment and cameras are amazing.
Blazer 2020
I bought my 2020 Blazer new. And it’s now 2021 and my brakes are not working. I’ve had it in the shop 3 times and 2 different dealers and they can’t find a problem with it. They stop but when at a red light or stop sign my brakes go down. And you have to let off them and push again. Which is not a big deal but when you pay so much for a vehicle you expect it to be good. Also, still under warranty and still owe on it so would love to have this issue fixed. Love love love it other than this problem!
Chevy did it right with the Chevy blazer rs
Power, luxury, and every bell and whistle a high end vehicle has comes with the RS Blazer. And its affordable! Love the standard 20in rims and the cajan red color too! Thank you Chevrolet!!

First chevy owner
I should’ve done research and looked around first. My new blazer came with dirt u see the paint. The paint chips way too easily. Downshifting is hard. Squeaking sound when first starting. Radio screen freezes and shuts itself down often. It’s a nice ride down the highway but stop and go traffic will get you car sick from the shifting.
The New Blazer flounders in chevy's face.
Although it looks like a good vehicle, the new chevrolet blazer is a disgrace to the original K5 nor the s10 blazers body on frame vehicles of the past, everything about this crossover was wrong, the interior looks stupid, the driving is atrocious, everything about it was just worthless, the new chevy blazer is a disgrace and should be go pick up a used K5 Blazer or the s10 blazer instead and leave this thing to the dump.

Tall Athlete's Car
We shopped several vehicles to see what was appropriate for our big boy soccer athlete--6 ft. 4 in. When he sat in the 4-cylinder Chevy Blazer, all fit well for the 16-year-old. A first-time car with reasonable insurance. Perfect fit, sporty looks, handles all his equipment, cost effective and one happy driver.
Chevy Girl
I have always loved Chevy. I had a GMC Terrain same year but there is so much difference in the 2. I will say I’m glad to reclaim my name CHEVY GIRL!

Won't be easy to get rid of it when the time comes
First off, I have the 2LT with the V6. Hot take: the 2LT with the V6 and black appearance package is a better buy than an RS. Think about it; thousands $$$ cheaper, same power, similar appearance, etc. I'm fine with the cloth, but if it's a deal breaker for you, the 3LT offers leather. Needless to say, I love my Blazer. We bought it used in June 2023 with about 23,000 miles on it. Now, in November 2024, it just broke 42,000 miles. There has only one substantial issue with it, the temperature issue, but as i've seen in a few facebook groups this is a common, simple fix. I took it to the dealership this past summer 2024 and they told me it would take a week to fix and it took less than a day. Since then I have had no complaints. I hope to keep this vehicle for a long time. Last thing, remove your front plate brackets. I live in a "front plate required" state and have been pulled over and they haven't even mentioned it. It makes the front end look much better.

Awful in snow!
If you live where you get seasons with snow and ice, I do not recommend this SUV. It doesn’t handle that weather very well with the low profile tires. Very squirrelly. Nervous every time it snows!
