2004 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4dr Crew Cab 4WD (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Review

This truck rides like a dream! I have found no other brand of truck that rides as smooth and quiet. Everyone who has been a passenger in this vehicle is extremly surprised at the quality of the ride. People find it hard to believe it's a truck!

Best Features

Plenty of power, great for towing. Power folding, heated, electrocromic mirrors(auto dimming). DVD player awesome onboard computer.

Worst Features

Bigger breaks would be nice. 07 has added rear camera which is a must.

Review

The versatility of the truck is unmatched. I have been able to use two tiered hauling, filling the area under cargo panels and then stacking an equal amount of weight and stuff on top. I can haul 2 yards of mulch in the back, hose it off and go out to a nice dinner that night.

Best Features

The midgate has come in handy, I have even had scouts sleep in it with the midgate down. The side storage areas are great as well.

Worst Features

None really.

Review

I have put over 65,000 miles on my Avalanche in two and a half years. The only problem was that the tailgate latch broke. On the highway I get between 18 and 21 MPG even on the 75 MPH interstates. I have hauled 12 ft. 2x12's inside with the tailgate closed. The bed cover is secure yet easy to remove. In short it is a GREAT vehcle with multi-talents.

Best Features

The lockable bed and the great gas milage for a vehicle of this size and power.

Worst Features

Improved lighting in the rear seat area.

Review

I must say I love this truck. It rides like a big American sedan not a truck. But it is all truck and will carry anything. Only problem I had was the front driver’s window got stuck down from ice build up. GM replaced window regulator. Power steering box was replaced, not a common problem.

Best Features

Midgate. The cladding is great protection on and off road and in parking lots

Worst Features

Auto locking tailgate, power back window

Review

I've owned my Burnt Orange (okay Sunset Metalic) Z66 for a little over 1 1/2 years now and have about 15,000 miles on it. It rides and handles just fine. And for a big truck the mileage is good. 14-15 mpg city and 17- 18 mgg highway. The popping noise in the front end is a bit disconcerting. But will take it in to my dealer for a fix.

Best Features

Sun roof, XM radio. Midgate and removable bed cover.

Worst Features

Interior design with more internal storage especially console. And a rear folding seat system that doesn't require me to move the drivers seat so far forward to use. One last thing ... make running boards (not tubes) standard equipment.
