2003 Chevy Avalanche
By James Panzica on

2003 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4dr Crew Cab 4WD (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Purchased in July 2003, and I now have
6,500 miles on it. There have been zero
problems with it. The only work needed
was oil changes. Fuel economy here in a
New England winter, short driving
distances, runs about 10.5 mpg. Summer
will take it up to 12.5.

It is an exceptionally quiet vehicle,
in terms of both interior and engine

The only complaint is that there should
be more use of fabric instead of just
plain plastic.

Best Features

Best features are the Bose sound system, quite ride, towing capacity. My boat weighs 8,200 lbs with trailer included, and the truck has no trouble with that weight when in "Tow Mode", and it has the optional oil and transmission cooler.

Worst Features

Definately needs some sprucing up of the interior. Mine has the leather package which is the same color as all that plastic. It is just too much of no trim, no fabrics, no wood grain.
