3 Engines and stiil rolling
By Pat Jenkins on

2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4dr Crew Cab 4WD (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Vehicle's first engine began to smoke
heavily during start up the first week
we owned it. GM said it was defective
PCV. After that didn't fix it, they
finally replaced the motor. The
dealer's quality on this engine swap
was terrible. My test drive off the
dealer repai lot revealed a heavy
knocking sound from the passenger side
of new engine. GM had to replace
engine again and have aera rep
supervise the installation. I doubt
that Toyota or Honda would have had to
replace the motor twice!

Best Features

We really use the midgate and hard tonneau cover. We love the heated power seats. My wife loves the intimidation factor the Avalanche has on other motorist.

Worst Features

More power cassette player
