KENOSHA, Wisconsin — The cold, snowy winter months have a foe at Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac. The dealership offers a free winter safety inspection to mitigate some of the hazards associated with the season.
Its service team checks fluid levels, battery health, tire pressure and tread, brakes, exhaust and lights as part of a 130-point inspection, Jack Borissenkov, e-commerce director told Edmunds.
At its conclusion, Palmen's service department informs a customer if the car needs repairs to ensure optimal performance in winter conditions. It offers discounts for various services, Borissenkov said, and the reassuring knowledge of their car's status.
"At least when they leave here they know what needs to be done with the vehicle to be safe and sound during the wintertime," he said.
Palmen Buick GMC Cadillac ran this promotion last year and considered it a success with about 20 appointments a week, Borissenkov said.
"This year, because we've gotten the word out, it's been about 50 to 60 appointments a day so far," he said.
Not only has the service department benefitted from the inspection, but also new car sales have gotten a bounce, too.
"If the vehicle has a laundry list of repairs to do, we can show them options as far as a lease or new car purchase, and we can give them a quote if they trade in that vehicle," Borissenkov said. "It absolutely helps us."
Edmunds says: This dealership has the right idea, especially with meteorologists warning that an Arctic blast is bearing down on the Midwest.
