Timed to coincide with international Earth Day celebrations, the dealership's event will take place on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Among the activities will be demo drives in some of Hyundai's green vehicles, including the 2016 Sonata Hybrid, and Sonata Plug-in Hybrid sedans, with product specialists on hand to answer questions and technicians available to explain the inner workings of hybrid and electric powertrains.
Other Hyundai green models include the hydrogen-powered 2016 Tucson Fuel Cell, available in limited areas, and the 2017 Ioniq, coming to Hyundai dealerships this fall with three electric power plant options.
But, as dealership president Doug Wilson told Edmunds, it's not just these alternative-drive models that can be considered environmentally friendly: "Hyundai has emissions leadership in that all our vehicles are certified to meet California's stringent emissions requirements. So we also have fuel economy leadership in our normally powered vehicles, as well."
In addition to demo drives, Wilson Premier Hyundai's event will include an all-natural food expo with livestock and home-grown vegetables, a petting zoo, bounce houses and horse rides with trained guides. In addition, the Madison Ark pet rescue organization will be on hand to showcase pets available for adoption and accept donations of pet food.
Family Earth Day is a special annual celebration, but Wilson noted that the dealership's ongoing green activities include the installation of energy-saving LED lighting, an emphasis on paperless reports, environmentally responsible treatment of water used to wash cars and an aggressive recycling program for everything from office paper to tires, batteries, electrical components and service-department chemicals.
In fact, for more than 20 years the dealership has made use of a monthly checklist to monitor progress in these areas and ensure environmental and safety compliance.
Edmunds says: Wilson Premier Hyundai has come up with a unique and fun way to celebrate Earth Day while giving shoppers a chance to sample Hyundai's green vehicles.
