STERLING HEIGHTS, Michigan — About 4 inches of fresh snow helped to illustrate the beauty of Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights' new service department when it opened Monday.
Customers never have to set foot in the elements once they pull into the service lanes located in the climate-controlled garage. From there, they walk through sliding glass doors to one of eight service podiums, each of which accommodates two service advisors.
"The service writers used to be out in the garage where it was either blazing hot or super cold," said Bruno Polisena, service director at Suburban Ford Sterling Heights. "Now visitors can walk straight to our restaurant without setting foot outside, and you know that's important with Michigan's weather."
The dealership introduced the service department a week before it opened its doors via a Facebook video.
Polisena told Edmunds the state-of-the-art service department will help sell cars.
"There is nothing like this out there, and you feel the difference when you pull in," he said. "Plus there is a saying in the business that they sell the first car up front but we sell the second and third ones out back in the service department because of our attention to detail."
Edmunds says: Pampering customers and shielding them from bad weather should help Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights build repeat business.
