Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer's choice of several charities. They include the ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals On Wheels America and National Park Foundation or a hometown charity selected by the local Subaru dealer.
Some dealers add their own donations to the local causes.
"The Share the Love program is a tremendous way to give back and do good, and we are proud to add to the $50 million already donated to a host of national and local charities through this initiative," said Alan Bethke, Subaru of America vice president of marketing, in a statement.
The Share the Love program is in its eighth year.
Pennsylvania's Concordville Subaru is the 2015 Love Promise Retailer of the Year for its support of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. The dealership will have donated $200,000 by the end of the year so the hospital can better serve the community.
Other noteworthy Share the Love dealers include Subaru of Champaign County of Savoy, Illinois for its work in helping Bark & Ride provide transport to shelter dogs that are on their way to adoptive homes and Cascade Subaru in Wenatchee, Washington for their sponsorship of the local fifth grade Learn to Ski Program.
Subaru said it hopes to donate up to $15 million to its Share the Love charitable partners, which would mean a total of $65 million donated throughout the life of the program.
Edmunds says: Charity-minded car shoppers will want to take advantage of this annual Subaru program.
