Stamford Ford Lincoln Hits a Homerun With Baseball Glove Giveaway

STAMFORD, Connecticut Stamford Ford Lincoln gave away 150 new baseball gloves to local Little League players, bringing in former Boston Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine to help.

The dealership bought 150 new Mizuno-brand baseball gloves to give to Stamford Little League players, inviting Valentine to further inspire them.

"We gave them out before they had tryouts because we had heard that some kids would have to share a glove," Tom Zvon, general manager, told Edmunds.

Valentine also gave the players advice and posed for pictures during the two-hour giveaway.

"Bobby Valentine is from Stamford and he rode his bike 16 miles to come meet the kids," Zvon said.

This marks the second year the dealership has distributed the mitts, a giveaway inspired by Dealer Principal Dominic Franchella's love of the game and the dealership's involvement with the Boys & Girls Club of America.

"We don't do this to sell cars," Zvon said. "We like to give back to the community and there is such a need out there."

Edmunds says: A dealership goes the distance when it comes to helping budding baseball stars.
