Officially dubbed the Toyota FT-86 Open Concept, it will be shown in Geneva to gauge public reaction to a possible production model.
Toyota has noted previously that the car will also be used as an engineering prototype to further investigate the idea should it get the go-ahead. The car shown here looks fully finished, so it's likely being photographed for the official debut.
Speculation about a convertible version of the Scion FR-S and its sister vehicle, the Subaru BRZ, has been rampant since the car debuted. Engineers who worked on the car have said that it's structurally possible, so it seems like it's only a matter of time before Toyota and Subaru decide to further monetize their collaboration.
Edmunds says: Hard-core sports cars or not, the FR-S/BRZ twins would benefit from the addition of a convertible to the lineup.
