Refreshed 2016 GMC Sierra Bound for Dealerships in Fourth Quarter

DETROIT — The 2016 GMC Sierra full-size pickup truck joins the companion 2016 Chevrolet Silverado in getting a minor face-lift for the new model year.

The 2016 will go on sale at GMC dealerships sometime in the fourth quarter, General Motors said on Wednesday. Pricing and technical specifications will be available later.

As part of the reveal, GMC posted a video of the updated Sierra on its YouTube channel that was taken by a drone hovering over the GM Milford Proving Ground in Michigan.

The exterior changes to the Sierra include LED C-shaped daytime running lights, headlights and taillights, new LED foglamps, new bumpers and new grille designs for each trim level of the truck.

The updated 2016 Silverado, with a front-end redesign that bears a family resemblance to the Chevrolet Colorado midsize truck, debuted earlier this week.

GM is aiming for a fresh look for its full-size truck in a year dominated by the rollout of new trucks, including the 2016 Nissan Titan, which is set to go on sale later this year.

Shoppers may also be considering the new 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel off-road-oriented pickup truck and the all-new 2015 Ford F-150.

Edmunds says: Lots of fresh choices for truck shoppers who are making their showroom plans for the fall.
