Ramey Princeton Chrysler Dodge Seeks Sleeping Bags for the Homeless

PRINCETON, West Virginia — The heart of Ramey Princeton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram can be found inside the showroom in the bed of a 2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab, where customers are flocking through November 30 to donate new and used sleeping bags for the homeless.

The sleeping-bag drive has brought together the entire Ramey Auto Group as a unique way to reach out to its community, Princeton Chrysler Sales Member and Floor Manager Fred Kinder told Edmunds.

Kinder introduced the drive last year after visiting Charlotte, North Carolina, and encountering many homeless people during a cold spell.

"Last year in two weeks I collected 500 sleeping bags by reaching out to my customers using my database," he said. "I hope to reach 1,000 this year."

All eight of the Ramey stores, which represent Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, Toyota and Scion brands, are drop-off points now, Kinder said.

"It has definitely brought a lot of people into our showrooms," Kinder said. "I don't think we've sold any cars because of it but I'm fine with that because we're just trying to help others in need."

Edmunds says: A sleeping-bag drive for the homeless is a unique method of welcoming potential shoppers to a showroom.
