TORRANCE, California — Lexus has announced the winner of its 2014 Lexus IS F Sport design contest. The winner will have his work built and put on display at the 2013 SEMA Show.
Rob Evans from Seattle, Washington took 1st place in the contest and will have his rendering built by VIP Auto Salon.
Evans' design includes a lowered chassis, aggressive wide-body ground effects kit and huge deep-dish bronze wheels that barely fit in the wheelwells.
Second-place winner Lucia Lee outfitted the Lexus IS F Sport with custom wide fenders, smoked headlights and a custom trunk with an integrated spoiler.
Third-place winner Guanghao Huang from Southfield, Michigan, envisioned a car with a blacked-out hood with intakes, vertical LED foglight and carbon-fiber components.
Four judges narrowed more than 600 submissions down to just 25, with the final selection being picked for its consistency with the image of the Lexus brand, originality and potential as an executable design.
The winner received a one-year lease of a 2014 Lexus IS valued at $10,330 as well as a $2,000 trip to the 2013 SEMA Show. Second and 3rd place contestants receive $1,500 and deviantART.com perks. Lexus partnered with DeviantART to come up with an "edgier" design contest.
The 2014 Lexus IS hit dealerships earlier this summer. The 2013 SEMA Show takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center November 5-8.
Edmunds says: Here's hoping that Lexus uses these bright ideas on a future production IS.
