November Car Sales Find Consumers in a Buying Mood

SANTA MONICA, California — Buyers are lining up for holiday deals as November car sales end on a positive note, according to Edmunds.

"Any economic uncertainty that car shoppers might have felt in October seems to be a distant memory now," said Jessica Caldwell, an Edmunds senior analyst.

Edmunds projects that Chrysler will turn in the best year-over-year performance of any automaker this month. Its sales are expected to climb 10 percent over November 2012, even though they're expected to fall almost 4 percent from last month.

Volkswagen/Audi is projected to fall more than any other major automaker in November, -6.6 percent from November 2012, even though it is expected to climb higher than any other automaker month to month at +10.8 percent over October.

Edmunds forecasts that 1,196,663 new cars and trucks will be sold in the U.S. in November, for an estimated Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate of 15.7 million.

Edmunds says: November auto sales are setting the tone for the final stretch of 2013.
