MV-1 Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle Now at Dealerships

SOUTH BEND, Indiana — Mobility Ventures, which sells a purpose-built MV-1 vehicle for people who use wheelchairs, said on Monday it now has 100 dealerships in the U.S.

The dealerships include Performance Mobility in Mesa, Arizona and Creative Bus Sales in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The company said it will continue to aggressively expand its dealer network into all major domestic and international market areas.

"This milestone is very important because it indicates significant progress in our commitment to provide a broad network of well-established dealers who can be depended upon to provide high quality MV-1 sales, service and support to individuals in wheelchairs, commercial fleets, institutions and municipalities," said John Walsh, Mobility Ventures vice president for sales and marketing, in a statement.

Mobility Ventures builds the MV-1. The vehicle meets or exceeds the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

An estimated 1.6 million people residing outside of institutions use wheelchairs, according to the University of California/San Francisco.
