Mopar '16 Ram Rebel Bound for Dealerships This Summer

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The limited-edition Mopar '16 Ram Rebel pickup truck is on the way to select Ram dealerships this summer with a starting price of $53,655.

The price includes a $1,195 destination charge.

In comparison, the base 2016 Ram 1500 Tradesman regular cab 4x2 pickup starts at $27,340, including shipping.

Mopar is Fiat-Chrysler's parts-and-accessories division.

The Mopar '16 Ram Rebel features several upgrades, including 17-inch satin black wheels, black front bumper skid plate, wheel flares, serialized badge and special Mopar graphics.

This is the first limited-edition Mopar-modified vehicle designed for the truck segment, the automaker said on Thursday.

It joins such specialty vehicles as the Mopar '10 Dodge Challenger and Mopar '15 Dodge Charger R/T.

The Mopar '16 Ram Rebel is spun off the Ram 1500 4x4 Rebel Crew Cab. The special model is equipped with a 5.7-liter Hemi engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Buyers can add a cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust system.

Key Ram 1500 rivals include the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra.

Edmunds says: Specialty trucks are a huge trend for the 2016 model year, satisfying the need for buyers to give their ride a custom look and feel.
