The Nissan Heisman House gives football fans a glimpse of what it might be like if the winners of football's highest individual honor — the Heisman Trophy — lived together under one roof.
McGavock Nissan will take it tailgating at a Texas Tech and TCU matchup on September 26.
"We wanted to make it a community event and have it accessible to every football lover that we could," Randy Christian, director of marketing, told Edmunds.
Serendipitously, Christian booked 1976 Heisman winner and Dallas Cowboy great Tony Dorsett to sign autographs at the dealership September 25 from 5-7 p.m. before they knew of the Trophy Tour honor.
Christian said the dealership has been lobbying for the tour stop for several years and the Dorsett appearance may have helped to seal the deal.
Additionally, McGavock Nissan Lubbock will be having a "Strike the Heisman Pose" social-media contest through September 30.
Five winners will be chosen and each will receive a free oil change from McGavock Nissan.
To enter the contest, participants must post a picture of themselves doing the Heisman stance using the hashtag #HeismanMcGavock.
Edmunds says: Huddling with the Heisman should prove to be a good game plan for this dealership.
