Fun fact: 2026 marks Edmunds' 60th birthday. So like many a senior citizen named Ed, we decided to celebrate by buying a Corvette.

Edmunds has a storied history of owning Corvettes, most recently a 2020 C8 Stingray that we liked so much we kept it for three years. The 2027 Grand Sport is the most recent addition to the C8-generation lineup, and with its new V8 engine, excellent chassis and updated interior, there's a lot to talk about. We're looking forward to putting this one through its paces for a year — or, knowing us, several.

What we bought

Chevy offers the Corvette Grand Sport two ways: in standard flavor or with an X on the end. The Grand Sport X is actually a hybrid — the replacement for the outgoing Corvette E-Ray. Since it has plenty of punch and an on-road verve all its own, we decided to stick with the tried-and-true Corvette formula of a naturally aspirated V8 engine, rear-wheel-drive and no electric assist.

Our Grand Sport is powered by Chevy's new 6.7-liter small-block V8, delivering 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. That power is routed through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Pricing for the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport starts at $88,495 including destination. We went for a high-spec 3LT Coupe model (who needs the convertible when the coupe's roof panel comes off?) and added the $3,500 Z52 Sport Performance package, which brings Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, upgraded Brembo brakes and Chevy's performance traction management system to the table. Beyond that, our car has the absolutely necessary $2,995 front-axle lift system and visual niceties like a $1,295 white center stripe, $1,095 gloss-black wheels, $995 red hash marks, $795 red brake calipers, $500 Admiral Blue Metallic paint, $195 engine lighting and more.

All in, we paid a cool $112,605 for our Corvette Grand Sport. Yes, we actually bought it with our own money. We don't all love the spec — it's a little too Star Spangled Supercar for some folks on staff. We'll see if we grow to love that bright red interior and patriotic exterior over the long haul.
