FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CaliforniaHyundai Rewards is a new program that rewards owners for shopping online and servicing their vehicles at participating Hyundai dealerships.

"This program creates a stronger bond between Hyundai Motor America, its dealers and owners," said Michael Deitz, Hyundai Motor America's senior group manager of Connected Care, in a statement.

Participants get points for every dollar spent shopping online through the Hyundai Rewards site or every time they visit a participating dealer's service department.

The long list of participating Hyundai dealers includes Happy Hyundai in Oak Lawn, Illinois and Beaverton Hyundai in Beaverton, Oregon.

Points can be applied toward the purchase or lease of a new Hyundai vehicle or service visit.

Other automakers, including Nissan, offer similar programs.

Hyundai said there is no limit to the amount of points an owner can earn or redeem. Hyundai customers can have up to four vehicles enrolled in the program.

Edmunds says: Programs like these lower the cost of ownership and should result in happy customers.
