FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — The Hyundai Elantra coupe has been eliminated from the Korean automaker's U.S. lineup for 2015, a Hyundai Motor America spokesman told Edmunds on Tuesday.

"Yes, it is discontinued," wrote Jim Trainor, a Hyundai Motor America spokesman, in response to a query. "We've decided to put all our focus on Elantra sedan and Elantra GT."

Car shoppers now have fewer choices in the affordable compact coupe segment. They include the Kia Forte Koup and the Honda Civic coupe.

The short-lived Elantra coupe was offered for the 2013-'14 model years. It is based on the Elantra sedan and is pitched as having a significant "fun factor," by the automaker.

Hyundai dealers will continue to sell remaining inventories of the 2014 Elantra Coupe. It starts at $20,410, including an $810 destination charge.

Edmunds says: The Hyundai Elantra choices have narrowed down to two, as the Korean automaker deletes the Elantra coupe for 2015.
