Honda, Hyundai Among Automakers Offering Deals for College Grads

DETROIT — Car shoppers with new college degrees in hand may be eligible for some special deals from automakers.

Hyundai's College Grad program is offering $400 toward the purchase or lease of a 2014-'15 Hyundai vehicle purchased or leased through Hyundai Motor Finance. The offer is good through January 4, 2016.

The Honda and Acura College Grad programs are offering recent college graduates $500 toward the finance or lease of a Honda or Acura vehicle. American Honda Finance Corp. last week launched two digital campaigns to promote the special deal.

GradDad is Honda's fictional, "all-knowing father figure" who serves as a voice of the program. He offers advice about everything from flossing to finances through short videos. "Look the Part" from Acura Financial Services is designed to help recent grads polish their image from "struggling college student to polished professional."

Ford is offering a similar $500 bonus cash program for college grads.

Scion is giving qualified new and recent college grads a $750 rebate on the purchase or lease of any new Scion "to help launch you into the next chapter of your lives." Through the College Graduate Finance Program, there are no monthly payments for the first 90 days on select finance programs.

Automakers say almost 4 million students are graduating from college this year.

Edmunds says: Recent college grads should ask their dealers for information on any special programs that may apply to them.
