Victor Sheppard, the truck's sole owner, logged 117 dealership service visits in his quest to keep his Tundra running like new. The truck has been regularly featured on LeBlanc Toyota's Facebook page in the run-up to the million-mark milestone.
"Most people can't believe how much on his truck is original," said Ron Weimer, general manager of Greg LeBlanc Toyota, in a statement. "Victor has been loyal to his maintenance and kept it up."
Toyota engineers will tear down Sheppard's original Tundra to evaluate how it's held up during more than a million miles of real-world driving.
"With the knowledge gained, the engineers will apply their findings to future trucks," Toyota said.
Edmunds says: Something for truck shoppers to consider as they look under the hood of the Tundra and its rivals.
