"The affected tires experienced cracking of the tread during tire-endurance testing inspection," said NHTSA in its recall summary. "If the tires experience tread cracking, it may result in a loss of tire pressure and possible tire failure, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash."
GM will notify the affected vehicle owners. Replacement tires are being provided for free by Goodyear. A date has not been specified for the recall.
