DETROIT — A 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was involved in a one-car accident during engineering testing in Arizona, General Motors confirmed for Edmunds on Wednesday.

The car received only minor damage and no citations were issued, according to the automaker.

No one was hurt in the accident.

"We can confirm that during routine testing in Arizona, a Stingray was involved in a one-car accident," wrote Michael Albano, a Chevrolet spokesman, in response to a query from Edmunds. "During evaluation, the inside tire caught the edge of the pavement during a tight corner, leading to the accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt, the car received only minor damage and no citations were issued."

When asked to pinpoint exactly where the crash occurred, Albano said that he was unable to provide more details because the engineering team can't be reached because they are still on the drive program.

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was unveiled to great fanfare at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.

Edmunds says: The crash heard 'round the world.
