UNION, New Jersey — Planet Honda's fun name, and its commercials featuring men in ersatz moon suits, already gives you the hint that it's no ordinary dealership, and one glance at the fully stocked café, cushy armchairs, and big-screen TVs confirms it.
Going one step further to welcome people to the dealer experience, Planet Honda is holding a special Kids' Day event in the dealership on Saturday, September 20.
Director of Customer Service Sue Lerch told Edmunds: "We are open for normal business during this event, and everyone will be pitching in to make it a fun time."
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the dealer will provide digital fingerprinting for kids, the opportunity to meet Patrick from the "SpongeBob" cartoon series, a bounce house, and hot dogs and ice cream. It's not all about the kids, though: Planet Honda is also giving away a trip for two to Kona, Hawaii, during the event.
Planet Honda has just finished a lengthy renovation that made the service waiting area much larger, accommodating the café and a lounge filled with newspapers, free Wi-Fi, and iPads for customer use.
"We made this area large to allow us to hold events like this throughout the year," Lerch said.
Among the plans are new-owner workshops "to welcome new Honda owners to the Planet Honda family," she said.
"These are fun events," she emphasized, with the aim of building a long-term relationship with the customer.
Planet Honda serves the Jersey City, Newark, and surrounding areas, specializing in new, Certified Pre-Owned, and used Honda vehicles.
Edmunds says: They had us at "bounce house." This dealer is smart to make the showroom an inviting place to come and bring the whole family.
