NEW PORT RICHEY, Florida — Friendly Kia hopes customers are ready to slide into a 2016 Sedona or Sorento after the dealership sponsored a 1,000-foot water slide at the Florida Blueberry Festival this past weekend.
"We normally sponsor the entertainment but we decided to make a larger commitment to the gathering that celebrates all things blueberry and put our name on what I'd describe as the biggest, best Slip-n-Slide around, the Urban Slide," John Gilliss, the owner of Friendly Kia, told Edmunds.
The dealership brought several Kia models to display at the site in Brooksville, Florida, about 35 miles northeast of the dealership showroom, along with a couple of sales members running a "spin and win" wheel for prizes.
"We pop the hoods, open the doors and let people crawl in," Gilliss said.
While the slide costs $12 per ride, the dealership had 100 free passes to give to people who took test-drives.
"We always hope to sell a car or two but we did this because it's fun and it's important to get our product in a market that has been good for us," Gilliss said.
Edmunds says: This dealership comes up with a playful way to get on car shoppers' radar screens.
