The 627-horsepower pony cars are being offered in two versions.
The Stage 1 version will be limited to 100 units, while the Stage 2 version will total 43 units.
The Petty's Garage Stage 1 car starts at $63,310, including an $1,100 destination charge. The Stage 2 version starts at $93,310, including $1,100 for shipping.
A Ford spokesman did not respond immediately to a query from Edmunds asking if this version will be subject to a gas-guzzler tax.
The special Mustangs are equipped with a Ford Racing/Roush supercharger and unique exterior and interior treatments. They include Richard Petty's signature on the dashboard. Petty is a seven-time NASCAR champion.
The Petty's Garage Mustang GT is inspired by the Petty's Garage Mustang GT that debuted at the 2014 SEMA Show.
