DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford is now reviewing applications from 6,506 potential buyers for the 2017 Ford GT supercar.
Those who pass this hurdle will be notified by the automaker within the next 90 days.
"Creative applicants featured children, lighting effects, racing footage, revving engines, garage tours and life stories to show why they should own the all-new Ford GT," Ford said in a statement on Friday.
Many of the applicants submitted videos.
The number of applications spiked in the last six days, Ford noted.
Almost 200,000 enthusiasts have visited FordGT.com's configurator, which allows them to build the GT of their dreams online.
Frozen White is the top exterior color, followed by Liquid Blue.
The 2017 GT will start arriving at Ford dealerships in December. Production is limited to 250 units per year and the initial ordering period will cover 500 vehicles or the first two years of production.
