DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford Motor Credit Company and Lincoln Automotive Financial Services are giving a break to customers hit by recent storms, courtesy of a new disaster relief program announced on Monday.
The program lets qualified customers delay one or two monthly payments.
They must resume regular payment schedules "when their situations improve," the companies said in a statement.
The offer is available to customers who are leasing or have purchased vehicles with financing from Ford Credit, Lincoln Automotive Financial Services, Jaguar Credit, Land Rover Capital, Mazda American Credit, PRIMUS or Volvo Car Finance.
Customers may get more information by calling 1-800-723-4016.
Winter Storm Jonas, which hit the U.S. in January, was the single biggest snowstorm on record for at least six locations in the East, according to Weather.com.
The locations include Newark, New Jersey and Harrisburg and Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Winter Storm Olympia followed, spreading snow and ice throughout the Northeast and South.
Edmunds says: Customers who want to delay their vehicle payments should watch for an official postcard or e-mailed instructions and then call the aforementioned number to take advantage of this special offer.
