GUANGZHOU, China — A five-seat version of the Jaguar C-X17 concept with a striking Liquid Gold exterior paint treatment debuted at the 2013 Guangzhou Auto Show. The concept is the automaker's first crossover vehicle.

The previous version of the C-X17, shown at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show, featured a four-seat cabin setup and a blue paint treatment.

The latest version of the C-X17 is aimed at the Chinese market, the automaker said. The more conventional interior design suggests that the C-X17 is taking a step closer to reality. Jaguar said the new take on the crossover highlights its "versatility." The automaker said the rollout of the crossover will begin in 2015.

The C-X17 targets the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the 2015 Porsche Macan. The Macan, the so-called "Baby Cayenne," debuted at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The C-X17 shown here gets "British-inspired" interior finishes and materials, along with a Meridian in-car 3D surround sound system.

Edmunds says: The Jaguar C-X17 inches closer to production form.
