GM said the new version of the myChevrolet app will provide easier mobile access to roadside assistance, parking reminders, vehicle diagnostics, Wi-Fi hotspot management, key-fob commands and content from the owner's manual.
The automaker described the enhanced app as "a platform for the growth of future mobile services."
"The myChevrolet app will be the most comprehensive vehicle app available," said Paul Edwards, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. The app "will support the ownership experience over the life of the vehicle," he said.
The OnStar RemoteLink app enables owners to lock and unlock doors, activate lights and horn, and start the engine remotely from a smartphone. Those features will be integrated into the enhanced myChevrolet app.
Users will be able to customize the new app, which can be used on Chevrolets from model years 2010 and newer.
