FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida — Dealership giant AutoNation and Hennessey Performance Engineering announced a partnership that will allow customers to order Hennessey upgrades at more than 270 AutoNation outlets in 15 states.

To celebrate the alliance, a Hennessey HPE550 Supercharged 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup will trailer a Hennessey HPE650 Supercharged 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to 27 AutoNation Chevrolet stores across the U.S.

The event kicks off Wednesday at 6 p.m. at AutoNation Chevrolet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and then heads out on the road for a 12-month tour of the country. Demonstration rides can be arranged by contacting any AutoNation store to set up an appointment.

"We're excited and honored to team up with AutoNation," said company founder and president, John Hennessey, in a statement. "Now performance enthusiasts across the country can come see our specially built vehicles in person, take a test ride and order their new vehicle from AutoNation and then be sent to us for upgrades."

Hennessy notes that, in addition to modifications for the Silverado and Corvette, it will offer performance packages for other Chevrolet models, including the Chevrolet Camaro sports coupe and the Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban SUVs.

But the festivities aren't limited to a single brand. Next year a similar program, highlighting a number of Hennessey-modified Ford vehicles — including the 2015 Mustang and the aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 pickup — will kick off with a road show that will visit 37 AutoNation Ford stores nationwide.

Founded in 1991 in Sealy, Texas, by race tuner John Hennessey, the company that bears his name has become known for innovative products that enhance the performance of a wide variety of automotive brands. In addition to Chevrolet and Ford, Hennessey manufactures and installs upgrades for such marques as Bentley, Cadillac, Chrysler, Ferrari, Lexus, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Toyota.

As an example of the company's results, the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado tow vehicle, with the 6.2-liter V8 engine, has been equipped with a Hennessey supercharger, high-flow intercooler, recalibrated engine-management system and other upgrades that boost it to 557 horsepower and 542 pound-feet of torque.

The 2015 Corvette Stingray that will be touring AutoNation stores also sports a 6.2-liter V8 that has been breathed on by Hennessey. The HPE650 supercharger combines with engine-management recalibration and other upgrades to take the engine to 662 hp.

Even with the performance boosts, both vehicles carry a 36-month, 36,000-mile limited warranty.

Said AutoNation Chairman and CEO Mike Jackson: "The Hennessey Performance vehicles have become the benchmark for high performing supercharged vehicles. We look forward to the kick-off of this program at AutoNation."

Edmunds says: AutoNation has taken the unique step of making it easy for customers to order high-performance vehicle upgrades at its new-car retail stores.
