Audi of America on Friday said the program "continues to acquire momentum," with 157 U.S. military veterans placed as technicians, service advisors and parts specialists at Audi dealerships throughout the country. The program kicked off in mid-2013.
About 90 percent of the roughly 300 Audi dealers in the U.S. now have hired veterans under the initiative or are enrolled to do so, the company said. Audi North Austin in Texas has hired eight veterans, for example.
Audi singled out such new employees as Derek Hefner, who was just hired as an apprentice technician at Audi Arlington in Arlington, Virginia. Hefner served with distinction in the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy as a Chief Machinery Technician and retired as a Chief Petty Officer.
Jason Glover was recently hired as an apprentice technician at Audi North Austin in Texas. Glover was an F-35 Joint Strike Fighter mechanic and also worked on F/A-18 Super Hornets, two of the most technologically advanced jet aircraft in the world.
"This program is a win-win for all involved, providing good jobs to veterans returning to the United States and ensuring a steady pool of highly trained and dedicated professionals for the increasing needs of Audi dealerships based on the growth of Audi in the United States," the company said.
Edmunds says: Your Audi may be in the hands of a skilled, trustworthy veteran at a growing number of Audi dealerships.
