GAYDON, England — The all-new Aston Martin DB11 sports car will debut in 2016, spearheading a reboot for the high-end British brand.
Pricing and launch timing were not announced.
Aston Martin said technical and design details will be released later.
The new model, which targets the Audi R8 and Bentley Continental GT coupes, "represents the first major product of the company's bold Second Century Plan," Aston Martin said in a statement on Tuesday.
The DB11 is the successor to the Aston Martin DB9 and carries on the DB moniker.
The Aston Martin DB10 will take center stage in the new James Bond film Spectre, but just 10 of them have been made — all for the movie.
While Aston Martin is remaining mum about critical details, the DB11 is expected to retain classic Aston Martin attributes, while also appealing to a new generation of younger buyers.
"The coming years will see Aston Martin transform not only its entire range of models but also its scale and global presence, and the new DB11 will be central to that success," said Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer in a statement.
Edmunds says:With an increased level of competition in the high-end sports car segment, Aston Martin is beginning a complete revamp of its entire lineup that should keep it competitive with larger rivals.
