VICTORIA, Texas — The all-female team at Victory Auto Smart, an independent used-car dealer, is helping to drive sales at the dealership.
Sales Manager Jessika Peinkofer says the six-month-old dealership is quickly growing its business by showing its softer side to customers.
"Our first step is to build a relationship and show them we want to help them," she told Edmunds. "We are a buy-here, pay-here dealership, eliminating the need for a bank, so we don't run a credit report. We're usually the last step for a lot of people, so they are ready for a good experience."
And it's working. Both male and female customers have referred their friends to the dealership, which sells pre-owned vehicles. Some shoppers come in just to verify that it's an all-female team.
Peinkofer, 23, said the creation of the all-female sales staff, which includes Sales Consultant Laurynn Nichols, 21, and Collections Manager Lorean Clauson, 23, was a coincidence, not a deliberate move, when she took the sales-manager reins in January, even though she had trained at an all-female dealership in Longview, Texas.
"I would hire a male if he's just as enthusiastic, positive and excited about helping others," she said.
The customer reaction has been positive. Clauson even received flowers from one customer after she helped him buy a car.
The women have become a close-knit family.
"Despite working together six days a week, we often see each other on Sunday to barbecue or spend time together," said Peinkofer.
Even with the staff, it's all about relationships.
