  • What's new: Volkswagen's Microbus-inspired ID Buzz EV returns for 2027.
  • Why it matters: The updated Buzz has new infotainment tech, Tesla Supercharger access, and a Tourer model with a mattress, blinds and more.
  • Edmunds says: We're stoked to see the ID Buzz make a comeback. Let's hope VW doesn't raise the price.

The electric Volkswagen ID Buzz van is back. Following a brief one-model-year hiatus, new Buzzes will soon be making their way to VW dealers. And there are a few new features for 2027 as well, like updated multimedia tech and a Tourer model that's great for camping.

Camping, you say?

Indeed. The ID Buzz Tourer is based on the European-spec Good Night package, making it easy to sleep in the van. There's a fold-out platform with a mattress, blinds for the windows, vent panels for the front windows (airflow is key), a table and chairs, and something called Overnight mode that Volkswagen says "adapts interior and exterior functionality to enable the vehicle to be used for overnight stays." (We assume it manages the power and lighting functions.)

The Tourer comes standard with a dual-motor setup, giving it all-wheel drive. It also gets a retractable tow hitch, electrochromic tinting for the sunroof, captain's chairs in the second row, and 20-inch wheels.

What else is new?

Every 2027 ID Buzz gets Volkswagen's new Android-based infotainment system, dubbed ID S 6. This tech includes a reworked navigation system, plus a one-year trial of an app store that lets you bring things like YouTube and Spotify directly into the vehicle.

A CCS-to-NACS charging adapter is standard on the 2027 ID Buzz, giving it access to the Tesla Supercharger network. Oh, and you can only get the ID Buzz with a two-tone color scheme now; there's a new Candy White over Cherry Red option.

We don't know how much the 2027 ID Buzz will cost, but we're hoping Volkswagen keeps the price the same as before, or even reduces it a little. The 2025 ID Buzz ranged from $61,545 to $72,540. We're glad to see this retro-modern van make a comeback.
