2027 Lucid Gravity GT-S Packs Insane Power in a Family SUV

The Gravity is Lucid's three-row electric luxury SUV, designed to combine long driving range, seating for up to seven, and the everyday usefulness expected from a family vehicle. Now the automaker is adding a version aimed at people who want all of that with considerably more performance. Called the Gravity GT-S, the new model boosts output to 1,070 horsepower, cuts the quoted 0-60 mph time to 3.1 seconds, and comes standard with hardware intended to make the big SUV even more agile.

The GT-S will make its public debut during Monterey Car Week, where Lucid will display it alongside the Air Sapphire at Pebble Beach.

More power for an already quick SUV

The extra muscle is substantial. The Gravity Grand Touring makes 828 horsepower, meaning the GT-S adds another 242 hp. Lucid says that makes its newest SUV America's most powerful three-row model.

Don't expect the additional horsepower to completely transform straight-line acceleration, though, because the existing Gravity is already extremely fast. In our instrumented testing, a Gravity Grand Touring reached 60 mph in 3.3 seconds on all-season tires and 3.4 seconds on summer performance tires. The GT-S cuts Lucid's cited time to 3.1 seconds, and that means the more meaningful upgrades may be found when the road starts turning.

Handling upgrades come standard

Every GT-S gets Lucid's Dynamic Handling package, which is optional on other Gravity models. It includes rear-wheel steering and a three-chamber adaptive air suspension. The rear wheels can turn slightly to help the large SUV maneuver more easily at low speeds and feel more stable at higher speeds, while the air suspension can automatically lower the vehicle as speed increases.

We previously called this package a must-have after driving the Gravity Grand Touring, praising the SUV's unusual combination of a comfortable ride and sharp handling. In fact, our editors described the Gravity as the best-handling full-size SUV they had driven at the time.

The GT-S also gets a more obvious visual identity. Blue exterior accents and brake calipers are joined by blue stitching, piping and seat belts inside. The standard Mojave PurLuxe Premium cabin also includes a blue marker on the steering wheel and Lucid bear logos embossed into the front headrests.

Price, range and availability

At $127,750 with destination included, the GT-S carries roughly a $27,000 premium over today's Gravity Grand Touring. Lucid also offers a Tahoe leather interior for another $1,300. Order books open today.

One thing we don't know yet is the driving range, as Lucid hasn't announced an EPA estimate for the GT-S. For reference, the Grand Touring is rated at up to 450 miles depending on configuration, though Edmunds achieved 400 miles in a Grand Touring with all-season tires and 388 miles in a model with performance tires in the real-world Edmunds EV Range Test.
