The Ford Ranger Tremor Is Coming. Here's Everything We Know

There aren't many safe bets in the world these days, but this one's pretty surefire: A Ford Ranger Tremor is coming for 2027. These spy shots show what can be none other than the addition of a middle-ground off-road model to join the F-150, Expedition, Explorer and Maverick Tremors already in Ford's lineup. The badges might be covered up, but there are plenty of telltale signs that a Ranger Tremor is what we're looking at.

The new Tremor will be more capable and kitted out than a Ranger with the more run-of-the-mill FX4 off-road package. That said, it has a completely different brief to the Ranger Raptor, which is built more for high-speed off-roading. The Tremor will be geared more toward tackling rocky inclines and slippery trails. You can expect a locking differential at the rear, returned software for the truck's various drive modes and more underbody protection.

To that end, we expect the Tremor to have Bilstein dampers with remote reservoirs for better stability off-road. The tires are larger; 32-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3s mounted on 17-inch wheels are what's spotted on this prototype. There is also a significant lift, which will grant better ground clearance and improved approach, breakover and departure angles.

As for what's under the hood, it would make sense for Ford to include the larger turbocharger 2.7-liter V6 (which is optional on Rangers not called Raptor). The extra grunt from the V6 — an additional 90 lb-ft of torque over the standard turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four — will help dig the Ranger out of low-traction situations.

It would also help justify what will certainly be a higher price. The Ranger Lariat costs just over $48,000 and the Raptor is nearly $10,000 more. Expect the Ranger Tremor to cost around $52,000 when it makes its debut later this year.
