2025 Toyota Tacoma Arrives with Red Front Tow Hooks, Not Much Else
It also now starts at $33,040 for the cheapest model
The fourth-generation Tacoma is entering its second model year on sale, and last year, it remained the best-selling midsize truck in America despite growing competition from Ford and GM. Don't get too excited, though, because little has changed since the 2024 Tacoma was completely redesigned. Base prices rise slightly, too, with the cheapest model, a two-wheel-drive SR cresting $33,000.
The 2025 model year welcomes Toyota's new TRD-exclusive exterior color, Mudbath, which debuted on the all-new 2025 4Runner. Following Toyota's paint department's trend, the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro's exclusive Terra exterior color is now available on other models, such as the TRD Off-Road and TRD Sport. This will be true for Toyota's other trucks, like the Sequoia and Tundra, but surprisingly Terra will not be available on the new 4Runner. On the Tacoma, though, Terra will replace the 2023 model year's TRD Pro-exclusive color, Solar Octane, that was available on the 2024 Tacoma's midgrade models.

Toyota added red front recovery hooks to the Tacoma's halo models, the desert-running TRD Pro and overland-ready Trailhunter, which both start north of $60,000. Those two models also come from the factory with a heavy-duty ARB rear bumper with red recovery hooks and cutouts for auxiliary lights, but Toyota tells us that the front hooks aren't sourced from Aussie's ARB. Those two models, plus the TRD Off-Road, used to have only three prewired auxiliary switches beneath the steering column for things like ditch lights, light bars and air compressors. Now, there are four prewired slots so that you can add even more accessories.
Other than these small changes, the Tacoma remains significantly updated from the prior generation with gas and hybrid engines available, a manual transmission on the gas-powered models, loads of new technology, including a massive 14-inch display, and SR5, TRD PreRunner, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, TRD Pro and Trailhunter models.
